I am a fan of the multi shading line of Sailor inks. They are so much fun to look at! Most of the multishaders, including this one, is fairly light in color though, and may not be suitable for reading when written with fine nibs. It is also a dry ink and would work best with broad and wet flowing fountain pens or dip pens (which would lay down more ink than a traditional fountain pen). ... show more

Color: 224 Pattern Name: Single Item
One finds it difficult to accurately describe these sailor color studio inks. They provide a variety of colors dependent upon your paper, pen nib, and particular writing style. The color with a fine nib appears to be a washed out grey that I would describe in a similar manner to sepia in terms of fading. The colors are more rich in the center and taper off to a purple and green on the outside and at the end of strokes. With a broader nib and a more deliberate writing mode, this effect seems enhanced. The cream papers and white papers also present a myriad of differences in the ink. The mechanical functions of the ink do not disappoint. Sailor's lubricity, ink flow, and water fastness seems to be amongst the best for dye inks. This particular ink is a bit less intense, so has less water fastness, but this feature also makes it easier to clean the fountain pen. ... show more
