Description

This Hallmark Channel original movie is based on the remarkable true story of couple Doug and Robbie Smith, who founded the Safe Harbor Home for Boys in Jacksonville, Florida. On the eve of their retirement cruise to luxury, self-made millionaire Doug Smith and wife Robbie get a call from Dougs past asking him to "pay it forward" by helping out troubled teens for a brief stay on their boat. A local judge (Orson Bean of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman") who took mercy on a young Doug when he was in trouble with police, asks the couple to put off their trip to help spare three teens from serving prison time with veteran criminals. Through hard work, discipline, and the calm and confidence gained by a challenging life at sea under Doug and Robbies guidance, the boys turn their lives around. Such a great family film!
I saw this cause I'm a huge Treat Williams fan and love, LOVE the story. U really get to see very sweet things going on throughout it. A retired couple is getting ready to take off on a trip when a judge that Doug (WIlliams) knows asks them to look after a couple of troubled boys, using as leverage how Doug got his "second chance". The couple is reluctant at first but decide to accept and not only do they teach these boys how to turn their lives around, but they also learn more about themselves as a couple, and it draws them closer together :) so cute! And of course what movie is good without opposition? There's a slimy social worker basically out to destroy these boys because of a grudge she won't let go. Some of the graphics in more "dangerous" scenes are kinda dumb but overall, GREAT movie that can be shared with the family :) loved it! ... show more

good family movie
Really thought I was ordering the popular movie (Safe Haven) and was disappointed when I got it. My mistake. However, we watched it and was pleasantly surprised. Great story and its true. Passed it on to my family to watch with their children. I would recommend this movie to anyone..

Positive, true story that makes you know there are a lot of ood folks out there.
Love movies like this..positive ...and was surprising to find out it was a true story. Like both the main characters..Nancy Travis and Treat Williams.

Heartwarming
This is a great movie about loving at-risk kids and having them turn out ok. The husband and wife take in juvenile delinquent boys, supposedly for a short time, and wind up keeping them and helping them mature. The husband teaches the boys responsibility while sailing, and are called on to make a rescue. This is the type of movie that has redeeming qualities, not blood and guts that teaches nothing. ... show more
