This was easy to put together. It went fast even though I am not particularly handy. The whole organizer is sturdy, but the shelves are a bit flimsy and sometimes come off the pegs when I am adding more papers. But all in all it serves it purpose well, and is just the right size for me.

Use care assembling. Tips: When you assemble be sure to drive the pegs all the way in. I was worried about getting the pegs too low or losing them all together and that was a major mistake and they popped laminate off the top when I put the top on. The instructions are just pictures so had they had one line saying "drive pegs all the way in - they will stop where they should" I wouldn't have caused myself grief I did. Also, the laminate and thin particle board combo is quite delicate. So when you nail in the cardboard back to the shelving (it's just cardboard) with the provided nails you have to get the nails dead center on the particle board or you'll have laminate bulging where you don't want it as the particle board gives for the nail. I bought two of these. One had nice shelf inserts with a nice finish. The other had much cheaper shelf inserts which felt very much like heavy cardboard. Probably based on when/where it was sourced. I learned from my mistakes building the first one. Building the second one went better. Once assembled they do the job they need to do for us. Warts and all. ... show more

The descriptions and prior reviews don't reveal the full versatility of this literature organizer. The image does show some of the variations. There are over one billion possible configurations. The shelves may be adjusted easily at any time after assembly. The stated 2.5 inch compartment height is the result of dividing the system into compartments of equal size. The shelf pin holes are at 1.25 inch intervals, so that's the minimum compartment height. Available heights are 1.25, 2.5, 3.75, 5 inches, etc. The maximum is the full height of the cabinet interior, 20.25 inches. Each side has 15 possible shelf locations, for a total of 30. There are 14 shelves included, of which we may use none, some, or all. 2 exponent 30 minus 30 plus 14 equals 1,073,741,808 combinations. (2^30 - 30 + 14) I'm using the sturdy hardboard shelves without the vinyl edges, since I don't need to label them. Oversized items are stored on edge, as in the lower right of the Amazon image. During assembly, be careful to hammer the dowels fully into the sides and center before attaching the top and bottom. This will avoid bubbling on the surfaces. To prevent tear-out, carefully place the back panel nails into the center of the wood edges. I'm very pleased with this product. Five stars! ... show more

Works fantastic to organize all the paper/note cards, etc Already had 2 purchased many years ago. Was surprised to still find them. Called company to see if could purchase more shelves, answer is No 9 (bummer). Tons of holes where more shelves could be added so now cutting our own from thin fiberboard found at Home Depot. Found black paper holders at Office Depot to finish edges. Picture showes progress so far. Going to be wonderful ... show more
