  • 2 External Monitors for MacBook Pro 2017 - Works Perfectly
Running this machine: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) Processor: 3.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 16 GB memory, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB I have 2 external montiors (not 4K or anything -- just standard 21" $100 monitors) I wanted to add 2 external monitors to my MacBook Pro 2017 and searched all over. Saw lots of reviews for splitters, which didn't so what I needed. Didn't want to spend $300 for more deluxe setups, and found this. Some reviews of other Adapters said that they ran really hot, etc. This one runs great. DEFINITELY needs the Thunderbolt port. I have an adapter on my MacBook to allow for regular USB and HDMI plugins that also provides for extended ports, but it converts the Thunderbolt to USB-C ports and this doesn't work on those ports. When I plug directly into the Thunderbolt 3 ports on my machine, everything works perfectly. I am not gaming or watching videos - just working on standard spreadsheets and SaaS systems online using Chrome and I experience no lag at all. Definitely recommend. ... show more

  • I do highly recommend
I bought this product to use with my 16" Mac book pro. I'm using it for two different displays as extended displays and works very well. I have been using it for almost 7 months and it still working perfect (like the first day). I'm not running any 4k display but they're full hd. I haven't faced any problems. It's very easy to install it. My only concern is that the cable is short. I do really recommend this product, previously I went with two individual HDMI to thunderbolt 3 adapters and I faced problems like I needed to disconnect one, then reconnect it, then the other stop working, things like that. But with this one, everything is working perfect. Worked well with Mac OS Catalina and now with Mac OS Big Sur it's also good. ... show more

  • It works except for 4k/60Hz
I looked at all of the expensive docking stations and my mission was to hook up my 2 4K monitors to late macbook pro 2017. One thing I noticed is that you need to have the proper cables (the PC hooked into DP), so I ordered HDMI 2.0 certified cables (a must for 4k) from monoprice. I was careful not to hook any other cables into the T3 bus on that side and put the port extender for USB/etc on the other bus. It worked right away, however no matter what I tried I could only achieve 4K/30Hz. Since I am not gaming (this is a work laptop) it is not that bad, but you can certainly see the lag in Mac animations. The view was no better or worse than my VDI connection. I referenced the Mac (it says it supports dual 60Hz, the LG (it definately works and supports this according to the manual) -- the DP port works at 60Hz, and this product says it works at 60Hz dual. I am suspect of any of these products working at 60Hz, be wary to run dual 4K monitors @60Hz with a 2017 MBP. I picked up a cheap Omotion stand for clamshell mode and I am off to the races. No docking station needed, so from there a winner. I also think the price is high because there are many offbrands which offer 4k dual at 30Hz for 1/3 the price, so value-wise it does not make it. ... show more

  • works perfectly for multiple monitors on Macbook pro
I have mine hooked up to a 4k monitor at 60 fps for the first connection, and a 720p display at 60 fps as the second connection . It is running at 94 degrees in an 80 degree room after about an hour operation .if you are using a Mac you may need to go to the display preferences which are in the airplay icon(monitor/ rectangle and triangle looking icon) next to nation and wifi symbols at the top right of the menu bar, the icon will initially give a drop down list where you can choose mirroring or to use devices as steerage displays. if you select the both option which is to open display preferences then is the arrangement sections you will be able to rearrange the grid of monitors so the you can more easily work across the multiple monitors in your setup. ... show more

  • Used two separate adapters and had constant screen issues with two screens.
I needed a HDMI to Thunderbolt 3 adapter for my MacBook Pro and I grabbed this based on glowing reviews and the fact that I've had great prior experiences with Sabrent's SSD drives. Well, this adapter was a bust. It started working for about three hours, then there was screen flickering on one of the two screens and it going black at random intervals. I ended up unplugging it throughout the workday, which was maddening after a while. Whenever I did unplug it, I noticed that it was extremely hot to the touch (never a good sign). First, I thought that maybe I had a bad cord, so I bought a pair of new HDMI cords. Nope, still had the same issues. Then I decided to exchange the adapter for another one as it was totally possible I just was unlucky and got a defective one. Nope, still the same issues. The only time the adapter didn't end up flickering was when only one screen was plugged in, which effectively made it useless. Now it could totally be that my two 4K screens could just be too powerful for this little adapter. Perhaps this dongle is using old technology that can only handle one 4K screen at a time. However, if that's the case, they need to relabel their product to state that it can only handle two 2K screens or one 4K screen. Anyway, for those MacBook owners looking for a way to bump up their screen real estate to two 4K monitors, I recommend putting some more money down on a more expensive dock rather than a cheaper adapter like this one. The higher price is worth avoiding the headache. ... show more
