Have been buying Sabrent products for many years so we trust the quality. Saw this one in white, at a nice price on Amazon; It arrived a nice packet, was nicely wound and has worked perfectly from the first date of use, regardless of which port it happens to find itself in. There are many brands of USB 3.0 cables floating about for sale, some claim they're active, some claim only to be ordinary 'male to female' USB extensions. This Sabrent cable wasn't advertised as an 'active' or a repeater extension, but it seems to carry the data without a hiccup about as well as the two powered 'active' extensions we use which each have two chips and a wall-wart power source. Drive backup and data transfer without a hitch. Don't know how much better a longer, non-powered, non-active Sabrent would be, but will buy one the next time to rate. USB drives transfer rate is at 100 MB/s usually. Drive connected to it was running at 25 MB/s. I tried copying 680GB of data from one disk to another disk connected to this device and after 10 hours (overnight) I was disappointed. 112GB was copied and then there were error messages the drive was disconnected and also another message the drive was corrupt. I connected the drive without this cable and the drive worked just fine. I had this same problem with another manufacturer, expected better quality form Sabrent. Update #2: When I finally did get a response from Sabrent customer service, they sent another two cables and, I'm not sure how this is possible, but both of those cables failed to work right out of the package?! They failed in the same manner, that is, loose or unreliable connections being lost upon the slightest cable movement. That's 4 for 4 against, folks, and I have nothing against the company. I have before and since used a multitude of generic and name brand cables (including Sabrent in the past, so something must have changed) with the same hardware and have never had anything remotely similar to this occur. At any rate, wow. I'm done with this brand, I guess... Update: two of two cables have now failed, the second after only two insertions. Still awaiting response from Sabrent representative. One of two failed in no time... the internal wires have come loose (connects when wiggling) after maybe 5 insert/remove cycles. I've seen a few reports of this, but chose to ignore them... Quality control? They look really nice and thick and the diagrams are nifty, but obviously might not be reliable. If you get any of these, make sure you test them a few times in differing positions before putting them into service. ... show more

Usually I don't write reviews but this is ridiculous! I took it right out of the package and was about to plug in my new Geeni Look cam when I noticed the male end of the cord was crushed! I've purchased many Sabrent cables in the past, in fact, i specifically buy sabrent products because of they're durability and quality but this was not a quality product. For a $7 cord this is really frustrating. Now I have to order another one and wait till it ships before I could use my new geeni look. Definitely not willing to buy sabrent again unless this issue can be resolved and the cord replaced. Then, and only then, will I change my review and buy sabrent products again. ... show more

Just purchased this cable and have used it a few times. Just needed a cable to plug into the USB 3.0 port on the back of my desktop computer. It's a little inaccessible so this give me a 3.0 port that is within easy reach. I'm using it with a smart card USB reader and a micro SD card for backups. The 3.0 port is much faster than the 2.0 ports. The cable doesn't seem to slow the 3.0 down. Some commented that the female end (where you insert a USB device) was too tight (the jokes practically write themselves). I found it to be snug but workable. The goofy review form asks for star ratings for durability, sturdiness and 'camera' quality. No kidding. Didn't provide star ratings for those but overall, I'd give it five stars. The other silly thing about this product was the card in the package that urged you to seek Sabrent support if you were having difficulty installing this product. Um, there's nothing to install like drivers or any other software. The text on the card was totally generic and even mentioned the CD that came with your product (there was no CD). No big deal, just amusing. ... show more

I was setting up a USB fingerprint reader to use on my Windows 10 machine, and for this setup I needed a short cable that will go from my HUB to the top of my desk. This cable was the right choice for the job, and worked flawlessly right out of the box without any issues. Compared to some other low quality cables I've got in the past, this cable was well packed inside a nice professional looking box, is thick, well build and feels sturdy as well. Not that I will be moving it around a lot, but I thought that this info could be of some use for some other people on here looking for the same kind of cable for other applications.     • Nice cable, but too long to work with Oculus Rift Headset

Works as a USB 3.0 cable should with no perceptible drop in speed during long file transfers. This will NOT work though with an Oculus Rift, which is what I originally bought it for. The cable, combined with the length of the factory Oculus cable, is just too long for passive USB. The headset reconnects and disconnects constantly when using this cable. A 3 foot USB cable works fine and this cable works fine for all other purposes to which I've put it to use. To be clear, this problem is not the fault of the cable, but I did want to save others the headache of using it for this purpose. ... show more
