  • What a Great Sub!
Nice Size, excellent crossover, great sound. Tight refined bass w the port firing str8 down at the floor out of the bottom at the back. Crossover Responds well @ 80 & 120 hz. Plenty of bass for movies & surprisingly excellent with turned up music. Matches nicely w small bookshelf speakers like Polk T-15's & a nice Amp. Aesthetically blends into the room. Tall & thin if it needs to fit somewhere "strange". Def. Purchase the 90 degree rca adapter w cable. The input is on the bottom under the sub w a set of feet. ... show more

  • Perfect sub for smaller home theaters with tight space
I love that this sub exists. 99% of powered subwoofers are cube-shaped, and take up arguably too much space in your room. For those that need a powered sub in a smaller room, or with small or unique space requirements, this sub is awesome. Well-made, unique-looking, and most importantly, a more flexible shape to work with for fitting within your room. Not every room is a cube-shape, or even purely rectangular. My room is weirdly-shaped, and I didn't want a cube-shaped sub. I never heard or have even seen any speakers from this brand, (Jamo), before, but I chose this due to my very specific space needs in my room. I love this sub, and now I'd easily consider purchasing other speakers from Jamo. The value for what you get, versus what you pay, is very satisfying. In other words, a lot of bang-for-the-buck. Now, if you're seeking glass-shattering, chest-compressing bass that will have the neighbors calling the police on you, this isn't for you. It's only got an 8-inch driver, and 100 watt amp. This does just exactly what a sub of those specifications should be doing for your small-to-medium-sized home theater—just with the benefit of being in a more easy-to-position shape than the typical cube. It's all about the FLEXIBILITY that this provides you. Lastly, IF you choose to not use the supplied 6.5-foot long right-angle connector cable that the sub comes with, I recommend purchasing an aftermarket right-angle RCA adapter plug connector, due to where the input cord is located on the bottom of the sub. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Decent Compact Sub
What I like: Compact and handsome design. Nicely manufactured bass driver, cone, and housing. Good tone control for volume and frequency cross-over. Sound is tight and complements my Bower & Wilkens towers. Affordable. The manufacture appears to make good stuff. What I dislike: Bass tone could be deeper if the driver and housing was larger. Tone controls are on the underside of the unit. Veneer is beginning to peel at the very corners months into ownership. Conclusion: I've been very happy with the purchase. I have had to tweak placement and tone settings several times before settling on a static setting. I will recommend the brand to others. Thanks! ... show more

  • I took a risk with a new brand and it paid off.
First off I'll start by saying that this is far from being a basshead's dream piece of hardware. This is not the speaker for you if you want to hear your eardrums distorting, your chest thumping, and your clothes moving with the notes. This is also not for your massive personal theater big enough that you could open a small store in. But, this is exactly the right speaker for your small living room or personal speaker system on your gaming rig in your bedroom. The slim and standing shape is convenient to slip out of sight and out of mind, the bass delivery is good and thorough, the cover keeps dust off and provides basic protection while being fully removable, and the woofer itself is plenty capable thanks to the generous box space it's been given. Too many times have I seen eight inch subwoofers starved of their ability because of inadequate box space. This is a ported speaker which helps to ensure it's heard loud and clear, the port being downward facing towards the floor. The amplifier and it's connections are on the bottom where it stands up at, which I thought would be a pain to work around but a standard RCA cable fits fine and the included power cable was specifically picked by the creators with this in mind so it works well. This cable is short, however, roughly three and a half feet from guessing with my eyes. It's not a proprietary cable power though and if you find this is not enough length a new one can be grabbed for under ten dollars from some no name company. The adjustable filter is excellent and it has it's own integrated volume control as well as it's own on/off switch. There is a tiny blue LED light that indicates it is ready to play and is actively on, which turns red after not detecting any input for a while. It never shuts off completely at any point and if audio is detected in this state it simply turns the woofer back on without needing to be interacted with manually. This reactivation is fast and as far as I can tell it has no perceptible delay. ... show more

  • Great for such a small sub
I have been impressed with the quality and quantity of bass this thing puts out for an 8" sub. It could be the room acoustics but I'm happy with it so far. I would have liked high level inputs for the option of using with a 2 channel amp and a couple of bookshelf speakers but I knew it wouldn't when I ordered. ... show more

  • Worked great
I needed something fairly small to go with some small satellites for a living room for music listening (no movies). This works very nicely. The price, size, and performance are just right. I needed something fairly thin and standing up (vertical). I was close to getting one that was largely designed to go under a sofa. I'm so glad I found this one. The amp/connections/controls are on the bottom (small end as opposed to the large side for those designed for under sofa use) and slightly recessed which works great. I have only 1 minor complaint. There is a power/signal LED under the speaker cloth grill that is red when the sub has power and blue when a signal is present (and the amp is on/working). I like the idea of the indicator but it is very difficult to see, so it might be good to not have it behind the grill. Of course, maybe most folks don't really want it to be seen, so perhaps that location was a reasonable compromise. ... show more
