Honestly I was going to make my own but was crunched for time so thought I would order these because they looked nice in the picture. First they don’t come with instructions to install thankfully my husband is handy but if your not you will have no idea how to install. Second once I opened the box the first thing I noticed is that the stain they used on the wood is smudged with fingerprints. Very sloppy job with staining and I wouldn’t of minded if it was on the piece facing the wall but it’s on the front where everyone can see. Third they don’t sit flush or even close to the wall and so the shelf is extremely flimsy and will not be able to bear ANY weight at all. $50 is a rip off they are junk and don’t serve their purpose. Returning for sure!

Do not buy these shelves - awful quality and cheap work. 1. Color of the shelves does not match the color on the product pictures 2. Even every shelf in the same set have a different color (see picture) 3. The shelves stain fingers when you touch them - not sure whether it is a finish coating or carbon after fire 4. You can feel the smell of a burned wood (probably during their production process) 5. There is a defect on the front edge of one shelf - probably damaged during the production and then stained 6. The brackets they provide are so thin, it's really scary to put anything on these shelves Will be waiting for a reply from the seller to discuss further actions.

UPDATED 3/4/19 Bought these last year and returned, not because I didn’t like the shelves but because of a color difference. This Seller went above and beyond customer service to make this right for me. I received my new set of shelves and I love them! They work (now) perfectly in my spare bathroom. Color is great and install was really easy. So happy with this Seller’s customer service. Original: Liked the shelves overall but the actual color of the product was not even close to that is pictured. I wanted the color in the pictures. There is no disclaimer in the product listing for “color variation” or a color choice. Disappointed. Returning. UPDATE 10/22/2018: I am updating my review and rating due to the recent communication I have received/am receiving from the seller. Still really like the shelves and hoping for color more closely matched to the photo/not as dark. Seller's customer service level definitely warrants another chance. :)

This is some cheap wood. There are knots all over the boards, which means these are just two common pine boards glued together. DO NOT WASTE your MONEY. I had to toss these because I am worried the will split while holding picture frames.

The shelves and hardware are fine. The failure point here is that due to the fact that the flat part of the hardware is thick, the shelves don’t fully seat against the wall. And as such, I can’t get the shelves to be level from front to back. They lean forward about 4 degrees from level with a gap between the wall and the shelf itself. Only other complaint I have is that one of the shelves had some large divots in it that looked like it happened after they were stained as it was missing some stain. That’s fine, I have plenty of stain and was able to match it. They claim they are sealed, but I’m not sure what they seal it with as it doesn’t appear to be lacquer, poly, or wax. But that’s not really a big deal. This is an easy fix, all I have to do is use my router to carve out space in the shelf for the hardware to sit flush, and this is the way floating shelves are typically done. But for the price, I shouldn’t have to do that to get a functional shelf that isn’t wobbly if you touch it.

Okay so these could be a 5 🌟 easy....but they didn't put the little extra work in, to make them great....such as sand the boards before staining. They are not smooth at all. They are standard 2x6' cut from basic lumber. Next put the mounting brackets on 16" centers so that you have the chance to put 2 screws per board in studs if so desired. Here is how to fix. Use a palm or rotary sander to sand of the horrable stain job start with a 120 grit...finish with a 240 grit or higher. Next stain or leave natural color. Be sure to apply lacquer. As for the mounting holes measure out 16" on the board. Offset your pilot hole match one of the mounting brackets at 16 in. Then use a router to countersink brackets. Now if you going to do all this just go by your own 2x6 and do it youself. To the manufacturer make these simple changes and your review will improve

So the wood is very nice, thick and seemed like a great quality piece. After installation though the shelves do not sit level, they hang even though we screwed them in with the anchors. We’re going to have to put another support which will now make them “kind of” floating shelves. Super disappointed in this specially with the price I spent and the time it took to install. And to top it all off when I finished installing and was wiping off the dust I got a huge splinter. All three boards are not sanded properly and have splinters everywhere. It’s very disappointing and if it didn’t take so long to instal I’d be returning them.

One of the shelves came damaged. We decided not to return it since it is toward the back of the shelf that will be against the wall and we would cover it up. The installation is difficult because it came with no directions or helpful hints. Nothing at all. The hardware sent with it is poor, at best. Once the shelves are up they are very loose and unstable. The holes are not standard to each shelf making the installation troublesome. We would not recommend this product.
