I recently used Rust-Oleum Exterior Paint in gray for a small outdoor project, and I’m quite impressed with the results. I am very happy with this paint. I painted my son's balcony - metal poles (pictures 1, 2, & 3), the patio fence - made out of wood (pictures 4, 5, & 6) both outdoors all year around. I also painted the entrance door inside and outside, and the sheetrock around it (inside). It's the best paint, durable, easy to clean. It is easy to apply with a brush or roll, you need to wait for it to dry to apply the second and third coats. This will last around five years based on past experience. This stuff holds up well and so the extra money now will save you time in not having to redo a job so soon in the future. Very easy paint to work with. I was doing a metal roof on a gazebo with a roller on a pole extension. Paint went on beautifully and covered quickly.

Used it because it's almost a perfect match for the yellow color harbor freight uses on their toolboxes. I painted two filling cabinets I use as toolboxes the same color so it all looks like a set now. Thinned it 2:1 with acetone and sprayed it with an HLVP sprayer, worked pretty good given my low skill level with painting. ... show more

The paint is good, it is just me, I am sure. I have never used an enamel, oil based paint. I used it to paint our very old, rusty pool filter. My husband was supposed to build a cover for it, well 10 years later, still hasn't been built, so I decided to paint it. :) It turned out okay. Since painting outside and it was breezy, the paint was drying as I was painting and made a mess of things. Also, since it is oil based, be sure to get mineral oil or similar to remove any paint you get on yourself and for the brushes. You cannot use soap and water. I am sure the experienced knows this, but I did not. Also, get the right brush for the material you are painting on. I was painting on metal and the brush left brush marks. I have learned from this all. Note: I have ordered a new valve for the top, just hasn't arrived yet. :) ... show more

Six months ago I painted two white Whirlpool refrigerators that had severe rust/corrosion on the exterior doors but were functioning properly. I am impressed that after two coats, the rust was no longer visible and the refrigerator doors look completely unblemished. I also used this product to repaint an outdoor wrought iron railing that had rust spots showing through the original white paint. After two coats, the railing looks completely rust free. Most of the negative reviews were dead wrong. It is thick and it dries quickly, coverage is excellent and the color matches the description. You can paintly badly with this paint as with any paint. This is what you should know about this paint. Practice on something before you paint the item needed. If you do this you will get first hand knowledge of how the paint will perform for the conditions you are painting, especially temperature. Because it dries quickly. Do no paint in the Sun; paint in the shade. Don't try to cover bare metal quickly, use thin coats. Make sure it is dry before the second coat. If it isn't dry it will be very sticky. Don't be in a rush, take as much time as needed to get a smooth coat. The smell was minimal but painting indoors can be harmful especially since it is oil base. This will stop rust, I usually take rust down to the metal. It you want a finished product sanding is necessary. It is good stuff however like most paint, you can do an absoulutely terrible job. ... show more
