I ordered these Runcati Mens Pirate Shorts Medieval Renaissance Banded Pants Viking Navigator Halloween Costume pants for my teenage son. We are a professional theater family, we have a great fondness for costumes. We also have a sizable costume collection, probably too large for our tiny NYC house. We are overflowing with boots and britches, gowns and corsets and petticoats, tailcoats and lederhosen and top hats and flapper fringe and wigs galore—you get the picture. We love costumes. All of us love the vintage aesthetic. My kid has several great pirate shirts, but he’s been making do with a kind of jack-of-all-trades black pants tucked into boots. When I showed him the sales photo for these piratical pants (or shorts? Or knickers? Knee breeches?) he lit up. When they arrived, he couldn’t wait to try them on. My son is tall, just a touch under 6’. He weighs about 200 pounds. He’s broad shouldered and sturdy, not fat. He has very muscular, hairy legs—he looks awesome in his kilts. He wears a size 44 jacket and a 16 1/2” 33” dress shirt. He asks us to get him size 38 waist pants. All these measurements are deliberately a bit too large. He likes the loose, floppy look and finds it comfortable. The size chart for these pants has an XL waist measurement of 36.42”. We ordered the XL. It has a wide, stretchy elastic waist in the back of the pants. Up front, the waist looks like a plain, wide waistband. The thigh measurement for an XL is 34.25”. This is only about 2” less than the waist measurement. The thighs are large, though not as wide as the MC Hammer pants my kid found a few weeks ago. The pants fit him well. The waist is a touch large, the elastic is quite stretchy. He has the extra room he likes and then plenty to spare. If fully extended, the pants can stretch quite a bit. The thighs are wide, which is in keeping with a piratical style. The wide cuffs at the bottom of the pants looks nice and makes it easier to tuck the pants into his tall boots. These definitely have some swagger, a bit of piratical style. He can also wear these for other period costumes, which is nice. The sales page says these are a 70% cotton/30 % linen blend. I think there may be some manmade material in there as well, I’ve owned lots of cotton/linen blends, and this fabric just feels a bit different, not like pure cotton and linen. Whatever the fabric is made from, it is sturdy and nicely made, and it definitely has both cotton and linen in the blend. My son said these pants breathe well and are comfortable to wear. Runcati piratical pants/shorts/britches are well made with a stretchy, wide elastic band on the back half of the waist and thick bands at the bottom of each leg. My teenage son says they are comfortable to wear and breathe well, and he loves the vintage aesthetic and styling. ... show more

I know, pirate pants, that sounds stupid. But they also sound comfortable. Not quite shorts because they are closed pants. Comfortable for inside and outside on summer and fall evenings. Yeah, I know the dangly things look a bit silly, but they're comfortable. The pockets are good and they're good for working around the yard. I don't know, I like them. And did I say it before? They're comfortable. I got these too go to the Renaissance Festival this year. Haven't worn them around yet, but tried them on in my house and walked around for an hour or so. I really like the way they look, it's exactly what I was hoping for. They are comfortable and seem to be durable enough, especially being something you are not going to wear all but maybe a handful of times a year at most, they should last for years. They are versatile, you could be a pirate, a Viking, a rogue, a wizard, anything medieval or fantasy based almost. I think these are a great choice, and recommend them. ... show more

70% cotton, 30% linen...what isn't there to love? This will keep you nice and cool during cosplay season/renfair months, or whatever it is that you need these for! Honestly, these are cute enough for daily wear, and great quality so I am sure they will last forever as well. I am a HUGE fan of cotton clothing, so I cannot say enough great things about this! The color is true to the image and the stitching is these is nice as well. I have nothing to complain about, and it fits true to size as well! ... show more

Look... I don't care what these are meant for, I love them and they're meant for me. Quality feels great. Fit is comfortable. Comfortable enough to sleep in, but nice to to wear with the right outfit. I wear them once a week.

These are not my favorite but pants, but they are comfy and breathable. Material feels light and airy which is great for yoga or yardwork. Definitely a unique design, you will stick out a bit wearing these to the gas station where I am haha. Quality could be a bit better, don't know how long these will hold up but good for now and price is right. Definitely worth a try if you like the style ... show more
