this thing is the perfect size and shape for my home! i wanted a bookcase that was more fun to look at than just the regular shelves in a square, and this fit the bill. i was nervous that it would be complicated to assemble but i was able to do it all by myself and it took under an hour. it's sturdy, holds all my books and some dvds. love that it comes with tools to mount it to the wall so it doesn't fall on my cat if she gets into while home alone. i may paint it a fun color so it matches the color palette of my home a little better, but i couldn't rate this thing higher. great value, does the job, sturdy, easy to assemble. checks all the boxes!

The only reason this is not 5 stars is that the pre-drilled holes for screws were on the wrong side of one panel. I decided to complete the assembly anyway. Even without two screws the shelves are strong and able to easily support a full load of books. I covered the holes that were on the front rather than rear with brown dot stickers. If you look closely, you can see them in the photo. To turn the shelf around would have eliminated the ability to install screws that are more important structurally.

I bought two of these, one gray one brown, both are lovely finishes. I chose to write a review because I am impressed with the details - they included very explicit instructions for assembly (which does take a while) as well as extra hardware (including the tools needed), and even an option to attach to a wall. The screws are long and sturdy and are additionally supported by dowels, and all my pre-drilled holes were spot-on; the right size and placement for smooth assembly. Even the feet are adjustable to level as needed. The finished pieces are sturdy and attractive and functional, much better than expected, happy buyer!
