Our closet is much longer than average but normal depth. The better half is a bit of a clothes-horse and the original closet system that was installed collapsed not once, but a second time even after doubling up on the supports after putting it back up the first time. That led us to buying this closet system. It is extremely customizable allowing you to outfit any size length or depth closet you have. Because our closet is 14' long we bought a 3-6 ft kit and a 4-8 ft kit and some additional shelving and add-ons to customize it to our own design. First off, it is extremely easy to install. I had it finished in a few hours work spread over a couple days. I would have easily finished in a single day but due to budget restraints we had to order the kits at separate times and I installed them one at a time. Secondly, it is EXTREMELY customizable. There are probably thousands of ways you can design the layout and with dozens of add-ons you have plenty of options. Third and most important, this closet system is extremely sturdy. We've had it installed for months and not even a hint of it coming loose from the walls and we've had no more worries of a collapse. And because of the organizational design, there are even more clothes hanging in the closet than we had previously. The top cross member is mounted into the studs for a sturdy base. The down rails hang from the top cross member distributing the weight of the clothes across the entire length of the wall. Supplied spacers allow for easy hanging of the rails at the proper distance for the shelving and hanging rod and from there it's a quick attachment with a screw at the bottom of the rail, either in the stud or with a drywall anchor. And since the design pushes the rail against the wall instead of away from it, there's no fear of the wall anchor coming loose and the closet collapsing. I have recommended to several friends who have experience the same collapse issue we've had and will continue to recommend. Would definitely purchase this product again. ... show more

    • Great Product....with a Few Caveats

This has been quite the saga, but now that it's done, I'm thrilled with the end result. A series of unfortunate events (mostly not the fault of the product itself): * Unfortunate Event #1: This large unit comes tightly packaged in a deceitfully small-looking box. It weighs about a billion pounds, and after lugging the whole thing upstairs, I discovered that the plastic end caps (agree with other user comments -- very cheap) had been obliterated in-transit and ended up as plastic end-cap crumbs. I sent it back to Amazon and they promptly replaced it. * Unfortunate Event #2: Even after sending for a replacement, two of the plastic end caps were still broken. Replacing the product a third time would have been more trouble than it was worth, and I needed to get the unit up soon, so I decided to follow through this time and put the darn thing up. * Unfortunate Event #3: As I screwed in the top rail into the wall studs, the screws were so junky that I not only couldn't get them all the way into the studs, but I also couldn't get them back out again. I eventually had to use a hacksaw to cut the screws to work like a flat-head just to get them out. I then used my own screws and I was off! After I started using my own screws, installation went off without a hitch. It wasn't only relatively easy for this non-handy, leisurely female worker, but it was actually kind of fun putting together different configurations and trying out different layouts. It is surprisingly sturdy, and it looks sooooooo nice on my wall (pictured). This is only to house part of my wardrobe, so I might even buy another for another part!! So far, it's a really great product, attractive, highly functional, customizeable, cost-effective, I could go on and on. Try to avoid my mistake and buy your own high-quality screws from the get-go and pray the plastic end caps arrive in-tact. ... show more
