This shelf kit seems okay enough (enough that I bought it). But, to save others some trouble ahead of time: please note that this kit does NOT come with the "uprights" included. No vertical bars with the grooves (for the shelf brackets)--they are NOT included. You must buy those separately. The box is big enough to have those included, if you ask me. And for the price, they should have made the kit include the uprights (probably four). Without the uprights, that makes this kit somewhat pricey. The outside of the product box (which arrived inside a larger cardboard box with shipping peanuts) says "Add-On Shelves & Hang Rod Kit". So I suppose it is meant as an optional add-on accessory to a larger kit that has uprights. The product page does not mention the uprights aren't included. And there is little to no indication of "add-on" designation. Otherwise, the materials seem sturdy enough. Won't know how it all holds up until I purchase uprights, separately. ... show more

We just purchased this Rubbermaid Configurations add on shelving for the house. The finish is great and it perfectly matches the other kits that you can buy in the configurations system. But if you are expecting to be able to use this as a stand alone section of closet shelving, make sure you pay attention to the fact that it doesn't come with wall mounting rails. It's sturdy and good quality, but it is meant to add pieces within the space already covered by an existing system you have in place. The only issue I have with the Rubbermaid system is that as configurable as they say that they are... they really aren't that versatile. Say you buy a main system that is 4 - 6 foot adjustable but you want to also have shelving for about 1 - 2 feet on another wall making an L-shape. There is no reasonably priced kit for that. We bought a main kit that covered the 6' back wall of our closet and then we bought this kit of add on shelves to put on our short wall. But buying the wall mounting rails must be done separately and gets expensive. (We could have gotten another 6' set for the same price as the add-on plus the wall rails for a 2' section of wall.) So, rather than buying the wall rails on Amazon that match the kit we have, we went to Home Depot in their closet organization system area and bought 2 non-coated rubbermaid coated wall rails for about $18 and used them with this kit to make our L-shaped closet. That saved us $40. I'm not sure if I would buy a system like this again or if I would just go to Home Depot and buy the separate pieces to build something on my own that truly is configurable/customized. ... show more

This made my closet so much more organized. It was fairly easy to install. The only issue to be aware of when installing is the wall condition. We were converting a hall laundry closet to a linen and cleaning closet. There some unexpected quirks, but due to the flexibility of the system, we were able to work around them. We bought the add-on shelf kit for more shelves, but I think for a standard closet, the basic kit would suffice. We are very happy with it and recommend it for cost conscious consumers who want a good product. ... show more

Beware, however it may seem, the wall mounted supports are not included. A rather predatory advertising practice that I wouldn't expect from a company such as Rubbermaid, I am now a lifelong enemy of them

The people who are upset with what they received vs. the picture did not read the description. Yes, you only get the shelves and the hanging rod. So yes, you do need to buy the vertical uprights separately. For some it might be a bit expensive, but this closet system is worth it. If you install it properly it looks great and functions great. It's awesome that you can switch stuff around and put it together however works for you best. Closet customization, yes! ... show more
