Why do people insist on cinching scraps of material and/or animal skin on their noggins? Is it for protection from the elements, thwarting all sky-borne forms of moisture? Or is it to shade one's brow against the thermonuclear blast of the sun? Perhaps it's to contain a nappy shock of outrageously impertinent hair. But this hat? Ah, this had is all about looking good. Trying to impress a bunch of drunken jackanapes I have categorized as 'friends,' I thought it a novel idea to not only equip each one of their empty heads with a new chapeau for a recent annual gathering but to also use said occasion as a clandestine branding opportunity. Small-volume customized apparel can be more expensive than a night at the Spearmint Rhino so I wasn't holding out much hope for my secret plan. I came across these particular cranial covers and thought that the style and quality looked on point for a bunch of middle-aged white guys with a preternatural inclination towards cargo shorts, New Balance shoes, and opinions about the neighbors' lawns. The price per hat was surprisingly affordable so, with an absolute hunch that I was setting myself up for crushing disappointment, I followed the instructions and uploaded the art that I had created which looked like something an embarrassed parent would pluck off a refrigerator door and discreetly place in the trash. If you want Picasso, keep looking. Point being - a few weeks later the hats showed up and I was frankly impressed with the customization. The logo was sized well to the hat and the reproduction was fantastic. Although it appears to be printed on the fabric with a vinyl backing, the colors and resolution were tighter than a first-time shoplifter's posterior in county lockup. The caps were a big hit with my collection of mono-synaptic idiots and I was agreed to be a jolly good fellow by brotherly acclaim. Pull the trigger and order a passel of 'em.
