It breaks my heart to write this review. At first glance, everything about this kit looks perfect in almost every respect: high quality components; precision laser- cut, beautifully-colored panels that are precisely labeled; detailed, well-illustrated and well-written instructions and brilliant, well-thought-out assembly sequences. Only the finest materials are included in a kit that has the potential to create an enchanting well-lit diorama. And, the last is the catch. In order for this kit - like any book-nook to work, it requires decent lighting to see the enchanting, tiny details that provide the charm. Otherwise, you have a tiny enclosed space in shadows. My kit came with all of the components, except a critical portion of the circuitry. One segment of wire, attached to a tiny light emitting diode is missing. Without it, I cannot complete assembling the circuit. Thus, this beautiful assembly will not be able to light up. That's not the worst issue. I contacted the Rowood company through an Amazon live agent, sending a message requesting Rowood to please send me the missing part, and to please acknowledge their receiving the message and sending the part. After most of a week, I have received no reply. This is disheartening, because another reviewer complained of having had a missing part that Rowood did not send. These kits list at close to $50 each! I do think they would be worth the price, considering everything I shared above, including considering the creativity, fulfillment and finished product. What I have a serious problem with is missing components and a company that does not respond to correct their incomplete kits! I am not the only reviewer to complain about this... but my incentive to order was based on the reasoning: What are the odds...? Well, I discovered the odds! Trying to do a workaround, I ordered a tiny, wired LED from Amazon that I hope will replace the one missing from the kit. I am trying to muster up the drive to complete the assembly, to see if it works or not. The kit comes with a tiny guage wire and I don't yet know if the current requirements of the LED are appropriate for the circuit included in the kit. If this works, I'll update this review. If Rowood finally responds, I'll update this review. So, had the missing part been in the kit, I would have readily given this Rowood kit a 5 Star rating. But, after 25-30 hours of assembling this kit - only to find it lacks what's needed to light it up - I personally can't accept that. I acknowledge that mistakes can be made in boxing up the varied components for a detailed kit like this. It's a shame, given the detailed thought, creativity, attention and high quality of materials that went into making a kit like this, that a company will not make good on providing the possible rare missing part. For me at this point, the issue is raised from a matter of oversight and the inconvenience of delayed assembly to a matter of honor in fulfilling the implicit contract involved in purchase of the product. For that, I have no tolerance. Until I can hopefully develop a successful workaround, I have spent hours and money on a project that cannot be completed. Since childhood, as a hobby, I have built hundreds of models and kits - up to and including an ultralight airplane. This Rowood model, as a complete kit, would totally rank up there with the best of them. I hope I have given you enough information to make an informed choice. ... show more

I haven't done one of these diorama kits before so I don't know how it compares but I was startled by the quality. It comes with everything you need (including a tiny square of sandpaper) minus 2 AAA batteries. The directions are so thorough and well done (make sure you read the key in the front though or you may be a little confused to start). It was truly delightful to put together (took around 3 days for me). The hardest parts are fiddling around with the wires (they seem a little too long but are too fragile to cut and restrip), and snapping the outside covers on without breaking anything. This kit does require extensive gluing, though most of it snaps together. Be careful to use just barely enough, as excess will squidge out and leave a shiny residue. Again, SO FUN and I'm having to restrain myself from buying another ... show more

I really enjoy magic and was looking for a craft to do with my wife. She got a bookend that was made like a library and I got this Magic Street bookend. This was a blast to put together. As mentioned. you do need to be careful taking out the pieces since they are made of thin wood. I did have one piece break on me which drove me crazy since I was being super carful. It was totally my fault for putting pressure on the wrong spot. However, it was easy to fix with glue and nobody will ever notice because of where it is placed and where it broke. Nonetheless, other than that, the directions were super easy to follow and the pieces were well marked and fit together perfectly. I had so much fun doing this, I will look for another to do in the near future. If Magic is a theme you enjoy, I recommend this as a fun craft. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My roommate and I both bought these for ourselves, she got the sakura densya and I got sunshine town. I left a review for sunshine town, that was a whole thing in itself, but this is for the sakura densya! The process of assembling this seemed more refined and organized than sunshine town and was fairly easy to build and get everything together! I will say some things would sit crooked at times (like the train) but if you pop a little glue in the gap before you put the pegs in then it'll fix it just fine. Some things struggle to fit together properly like the walls, and we had to saw like 2 pegs off to get it together smoothly. This took around 3 days of 2-3 hour sessions each day to make with both my roommate and I working on it, as sometimes we would get stuck and have to figure out crafty ways to make it work. This was really fun and comes out great but you might have to be a little crafty at times to make some parts work. ... show more

This project is great for a bad weather weekend. It takes several hours, but it’s not stressful. The pieces are very well made, very sturdy. Instructions are clear enough to follow that I only made a couple of minor errors that were easily fixed. They even include some extra pieces of the very small ones that could break if your hand slips. I cannot believe the detail! I would highly recommend if you love putting together 3D puzzles, furniture, etc. I would not recommend for children as it’s meticulous, time consuming, and easily broken. ... show more

First, I love this design. It's adorable and magical (just look at the name). But it's not terribly sturdy, and the final assembly definitely needed some glue to keep everything in place, rather than slotting in to the joints and staying there. The wiring was also a pain, I might invest in additional electrical tape to keep everything in place. But, once you can get the fiddliness under control, this is a lot of fun, and the final product inspires delight. ... show more
