  • Durable materials, HUGE sizing
Color: Tiger Stripe Camo Size: Medium
Tiger Stripe has always been my camo of choice, the M-65 has got a great color to this pattern and the build quality is nice. The jacket is sized VERY large however. Strengths: Fabric - It's a nice poly cotton blend that seems rugged and water resistant. Note, this is not a 100% waterproof item - but that's not really the point of this jacket. I sprayed it with some water-proofing spray to make it even better. Color - The Tiger Stripe is a rich color, which is what I want. It will naturally fade over time, but I always like my camo to start with strong colors. It matches perfectly the Boonie hat as well. Liner - The jacket comes with a full-length synthetic liner that buttons in. It's not a super warm "arctic level" liner, but wear a Wooly Pully underneath - and I'm sure that it will be very effective in most conditions. Build quality - The stitching seems neat, the snaps are well built, its got a massive brass zipper. Price - I paid less than $100 for this jacket, and frankly I think that it's a pretty good price for this item. Weaknesses: Sizing - I am 6'2", and wear a size 40 suit jacket. This M-65 is a Medium regular, and it is HUGE on me. It's plenty long enough and the width . . . Well, I could easily wear a sweater, plate carrier, and extra mags on a chest harness underneath with room to spare. I would probably be better with a Small-Long, but that size doesn't exist. I suppose you could take this as a positive, but be warned the sizing is very BIG. Hood - The small hood zipped into the collar is very thin and flimsy. It's not lined and doesn't really fit over the collar. I imagine rain with run off it and into my collar. I may take it to a tailor and have them rig it up to button onto the collar, because right now the hood seems to be an afterthought. Summary: I'm very pleased with this jacket, and I'm sure to use it for many years into the future. Who knows, I may get one in khaki or brown sometime later. Be advised, these are very large jackets; consider sizing down. ... show more

  • Great value for money.
Color: Olive Drab Size: X-Large
My husband's old, much-loved Woolrich travel jacket needed replacement, but I struggled to find reasonably-priced winter field jackets that were classic in looks, suitable for travel but not oilskin, parka-like or ultra-slim fit. Off and on, I spent several days looking for jackets, even searching LL Bean, Orvis, Barbour and eBay posts! I learned prices for Barbour and Orvis jackets have become crazy ($350-$600) and the parka / fashion jackets are mostly "too young looking" for my mature husband. Then I stumbled upon and ordered the Rothco M-65 Field Jacket. It arrived in perfect shape and my husband loves it. Here is why: 1. Classic olive-drab color. Military look Is never out of style. 2. Good weight. Not too heavy for travel, but it feels substantial. 3. Pockets! Four in the front, all with snap closures. 4. Warm, removable liner. 5. Well-made, solid seams, strong zipper and snaps. Nothing flimsy about this jacket. 6. Stand-up collar, where a fold-up hood may be attached/stored. (We bought the jacket without the hood.) For size: my husband is 6'2", 195 pounds. He wears flannel shirts w/ sweaters in winter. The XL fits well, a little large perhaps, but perfect since he normally wears thick shirts/sweaters. He loved that the shoulders weren't tight fitting and, as a bonus, sleeve liners don't pull out when removing coat. What I think can be improved: the bottom hem on sleeves is odd, closed by a fold-over with small Velcro closure. A proper cuff would be better. Also I would like to see side pockets for keeping hands warm. All in all, this is an excellent coat for the price. Well worth buying. ... show more

  • Very cool jacket, liner included, warm enough for a winter in the mid 30's in Sacramento CA
Color: Olive Drab Size: Medium
It is a very good M65 jacket, modern design, I've been using it for hiking on rainy days, it's very warm for hiking it makes me sweat , maybe I should use only a Nike Dryfit t-shirt , I like the modern features, the collar and the softer snap buttons, I have an original M65 jacket from the military surplus that I believe it's warmer and it doesn't have the liner, but this is not a complain, I can remove the liner if it gets warmer, I can layer it up as needed. Definitely I'm not a person that will stay idle on the outdoors , I'll be doing some activity. The Rothco jacket I bought it in medium-regular and I'm a slim guy 6'2" and 180 pounds, 42" chest and 31" waist, normally I buy medium t-shirts or large depending on the brand. You can wear this jacket informal with shirts or fleece jackets, or dress it up a little with sweaters and Formal shirts, it's military style and it helps that doesn't have tags and badges, Good buy ! ! ... show more

  • Caution on size
Color: Olive Drab Size: Medium
First of all this thing is a tank. I feel I can do a hard days work and this won’t tear up or break down. I put it on and I was already feeling how warm it gets which will help in the winter a lot. My only gripe was I took a gamble on size reading peoples reviews. Lots said get a size down or a size up. Which is it? I wear a large or xl jacket/sweatshirt depending on material and style of jacket. I decided let me order a medium and go up from there. It came in as a “Medium regular” making me wonder if they have a medium short or medium long option or not or if this was to just mimic standard issue stuff with NSN phrases. Anyway, The medium fit my perfectly which was a shocker. Even my wife and daughter complimented how it fit me perfectly. I put on a similar jacket I got while I was in the army which was a large short that also fit me perfectly and they wear a match. I put on an XL jacket of similar but not identical style and it was the same fit as well. Point of the story is just be aware of the size and be prepared to return for a different size. Other than that the cuffs are a weird thing. Either wizard sleeve or closed cuff with no in between. Which is awkward because this is so brand new the jacket is kind of boxy and square until I break it in a bit so closing the cuff to the tightest setting looked goofy due to the boxy arm because it tapers so dramatically. I’m sure with some washes and general wear it’ll end up relaxing a bit and not be so square. That being said the arm length was different. Normally if a jacket is too long in the arm I roll the cuff in or out but with the liner this is basically impossible to look normal. Other than that the jacket feels like it’s built tough and the warmth settled in quickly proving it does what it’s intended. The hood is thinner than my normal field jacket. Like really thin that I imagine using this in the rain will be practically useless since it’s as thin as a basically graphic shirt. Other than that the jacket looks and feels of quality and I don’t feel my arms restricted doing normal tasks at work or around the house. I’ll update in a few months with any new findings. ... show more

  • Great quality
Color: Woodland Camo Size: Large
This is a good quality jacket. Definitely worth the money. Zipper is good quality. I do think the size is little big, so I'd recommend going a size down. I usually wear a large comfortably and the large is pretty big on me. So I reordered the medium and I'm going to give the large to my brother-in-law as a Christmas gift. Editing after receiving the med... It is still pretty big. At this point I probably could have gotten with a small. ... show more

  • Not the same as yesteryear, but Its good enough!
Color: Olive Drab Size: XX-Large
I had a field jacket 40 years ago which i wore for a decade. Decided I wanted another. Certainly the quality was better way back then, as was most anything back then. This is not perfect, but its wearing in OK. I've washed it several times, and it is getting better and better. Sure the modern zipper doesn't seem as nice as my old one, but then again, this is working fine enough. Waterproof? Not what I wanted it for. I could spray it I suppose, but why? It was awesome during the fall and winter for cutting and splitting wood, working on my car and my buddy's tractor. The winter lining was super warm. As I wear it, it is developing a comfortable familiar feel and looking better the more I wash it. My XXL fits well and I usually wear XXL. But everyone is shaped different so read the reviews and make your informed choice. ... show more

  • better than expected
Color: Tiger Stripe Camo Size: XX-Large
Better than I expected. Solidly built with good seams and zippers. Lining is not super warm, but effective and removable if you want less bulk. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the hood, which is usable but a bit small. Not a deal breaker though as I didn't intend to use a hood with this. Comfortable and good fit for the size (2xl), with decent sleeve length and both waist and bottom drawstrings. ... show more

  • Not like the U.S. Original
Color: Gunmetal Grey Size: Medium
This “M65” isn’t a 1:1 replica of a government issue original. The jacket isn’t layered like an original, it’s stitched at the bottom, so the hood in the collar fills the collar up and not going farther down and makes the collar feel chunky. Zipper quality is pretty solid, the pockets are nice and durable and give plenty of room. Fit is a little bigger than expected but with a wash it shrunk a tad, it’s nice for layering. 6/10 ... show more
