  • Cultivating wheels and weed cutter blade do not work together well. Handle keeps coming loose
The DwelSpire rotary cultivator. I like landscaping and gardening. I also own many different types of tools so I was excited to give this new one the test. The handle comes in four sections so you can adjust to your own height. It also is very thin wall tubing, so the many sections combined with the thin material allowed it to flex and continuously loosen. It does not say in the specifications that the handle is offset. If it is supposed to be straight, then mine was welded crooked to the rake head. (See photo) As far as performance, I found the softest piece of ground in my yard to try it. First using the weed cutting blade and then trying to find the correct angle to use the cultivator. The blade cut fine, but I found it also was acting as a teeter totter and prevented me from putting much pressure on the cultivating tines. I tried different handle lengths, but the result was the same. The weed cutter blade either acted as a sled or a rocking motion. Also, with any amount of pressure and pulling and pushing, the handle kept coming loose. I did a small 8‘ x 8‘ square and decided enough work. That took me 30 minutes. If you have a small area or flowerbeds, put some Loctite on the handle section joints, you might get by with this. Too light duty for me. ... show more

  • Rods opinion
Tough to get handle assembly in to the tool. Need to open hole in tool.

  • Solid Two in One for Light Garden Work
Picked this up for reseeding bare lawn patches and loosening beds before spring planting, and overall, it does the job well. The adjustable pole is a real back saver. At the 61-inch setting, I could work fully upright without stooping, and assembly took about five minutes with the included hardware. The manganese steel star wheels cut through previously worked soil nicely and made quick work of mixing compost into my raised beds. The weeder attachment is handy for edging and digging out stubborn roots near my tomato plants. A few honest notes. On compacted clay that had not been loosened beforehand, it struggled more than the listing suggests, so you really need some moisture in the ground for it to roll smoothly. I also wish the joint where the head meets the pole felt a touch more reinforced. Time will tell how it holds up over a full season. For the price, it is a capable tool that replaced my old hand claw and saved my knees. Recommended for light to moderate garden work. ... show more

  • Great for No‑Till Soil Beds, Not So Much for Peat Mixes
This cultivator’s build quality is impressive for a tool in this category and price range. The stainless‑steel handle sections thread together cleanly with no wobble or flex, and once assembled it feels like a single solid piece rather than a multi‑section pole. As a no‑till gardener, I appreciate tools that stay shallow and protect soil biology, and the DwelSpire Rotary Cultivator does exactly that. In my soil‑based beds, it performs well for light surface aeration, knocking back small weeds, and refreshing the top layer without disturbing the living soil underneath. However the tine head and weed cutter do not work well together when using all sections of the handle. The two together makes the tool unstable and difficult to control. My solution was to not use the full length of the handle by removing a section. This changes the angle and makes the combination more effective. In my peat/coir‑based raised beds, it’s a different story. The mix is so loose and airy that the short tines can barely grab anything; they simply don’t have the resistance they need to bite in. If your beds are mostly peat or coir, don’t expect much penetration; the tool just skates across the top because the medium offers no pushback. The tool isn’t failing, the medium is. This is typical with short tine hand tillers in fluffy, low‑density mixes. The weed cutter, however, is very effective in this medium. Considering its rock‑solid construction and effective performance where the soil provides structure, this tool offers moderate value for its price. ... show more

  • DwelSpire rotary cultivator long handle.
DwelSpire rotary cultivator long handle garden cultivator with adjustable stainless steel pole, 2-in-1 hand tiller garden tool for weeding, soil loosening, aerating and reseeding grass. While putting this cultivator together I ran into a few problems with quality check and or control. The nice long handle is the cause of most the issues. It un-screws from random sections as you use it, you can tighten it where the plastic bulges, once its that tight it still works its way apart. The plastic is more support for the super thin pole material used for the downward pressure. More for support on the wide threads rolled into the thin ends. The plastic makes it very rough on your hands as this tools is used in a push/pull motion and you get these huge plastic chunks along the way. Can fix most with dope tape, the handle was a bit to big to fit the tool head (pictures). Had to crimp the edge pf the poll a bit just for it to start. Once it did get down to the bolt placement only one lined up. All Fix-a-ble but its new. Came with all the tools needed to assemble. Quality of the tool head is much higher but very heavy cheap paint that flaked off easily. Directions are a bit odd and lack some details. For these reasons 2stars. ... show more
