Wow, this thing is great for loosening topsoil in my garden and flower beds without dragging the tiller. The star-shaped tines actually bite into the soil and do a respectable job breaking up compacted dirt, especially in already-worked beds. If you’re expecting it to chew through hard, untouched ground like a powered tiller, you’re going to be disappointed—but that’s not what this is designed for. Where it shines is maintenance work. Turning over soil, prepping for reseeding, mixing in compost—this thing is fast, simple, and honestly kind of satisfying to use. No gas, no cords, no noise. Just push and go. Now, a few things that stood out to me—none of them deal breakers, but worth knowing: 1 You’re going to feel it in your arms if the soil is even moderately compacted. This isn’t effortless. The tool works, but it expects you to do your part. 2 The depth is somewhat limited. It loosens the top layer very well, but you’re not getting deep tilling here. Think surface prep, not ground-breaking. 3 It performs best in slightly moist soil. Dry, hard-packed dirt makes the job a lot tougher and less effective. This really is a useful tool. I’ve found myself reaching for it more than I expected simply because it’s quicker and easier than firing up larger equipment for small jobs. Also great for roughing up bare spots in the lawn to overseed. Bottom line: if you’re maintaining garden beds, doing light cultivation, or prepping soil for planting, this is a solid addition to the toolkit. Just don’t expect it to replace a powered tiller, and you’ll be very happy with it.

We ordered this tiller as we were not able to make the progress needed with the single one we had. We often till to aerate the lawn and to prepare the lawn to receive fertilizer, weed killer or grass seed. With 3 acres of lawn to care for, it seemed that having us both till with different tillers would lighten the load and expedite the time needed. This rotary cultivator has very large tines and several rows of them which also helps get the job done quicker with less effort. It is fairly easy to assemble and use-- but the tines are very sharp and caution should be used both in assembling and using this tool. I'm going to order wall mounts to hold this tiller as safety precautions require me to fasten this to the wall in a safe out of the way spot. IUf you are putting in a vegetable or flower garden, this will help break up hard packed soil. We gave a lot of clay which can be as hard as stone, so a sharp tiller like this will be a huge help.
