  • Fabulous Bird!
My flute came today. It is exactly as pictured. The Bird is just fabulous ! The tone is warmly sensuous and right on pitch. If it doesn't crack (as other reviewers experienced) it will have been a great buy. UPDATE: Feb. 2019 I have owned this flute for 5 years and have had no problems. It continues to play beautifully and no cracks. I am very satisfied with this purchase. ... show more

  • Beautiful and wonderful sound but horribly defective
For four wonderful days I enjoyed a beautiful flute with a rich, full and mystical sound as was expected. On the third day I saw cracks forming on both sides of the flute from the saddle toward the mouth. I hoped it was superficial but on day four the crack deepened. I slipped into denial because I loved the flute and the seller was willing to work with me if I wanted to risk the crack not deepening. However, on day five I could see daylight through the crack and knew I couldn't keep it. It's a shame because it's beautiful wood and finish and had a beautiful sound. I hope the flute maker gets it worked out in one piece of wood because it's a great flute if it won't split. ... show more

This flute was purchased for my daughter who is an avid clarinet player. She is thoroughly enjoying the rich sound and design of this flute.

  • Construction issues do to the way it’s put together.
The flute is beautiful and plays wonderfully. I sent the first one back because it had split do to it’s construction. I was quickly sent a replacement but may have this issue again do to to the way it’s built. For the price point though it’s a beautiful little flute. Would I purchase another probably not. ... show more

  • After reading these reviews I can see the cracking is ...
After reading these reviews I can see the cracking is a common, unaddressed problem. Mine came pre-cracked on each side with clearly visible lines of glue to fix it. Also, it's slightly out of tune (sharp). I've owned High Spirits flutes before but I can't justify spending $250 on a flute. I just wish the low end market took even a small amount of pride in their work. ... show more

  • Not Concert Tuned - but Great Service
The flutes are not concert tuned as is implied. They are also not made by Native American Indians. They are not made of one piece, but of two pieces glued/affixed together, which seriously interfers with true tones. I will say this about Roosebeck, they are great people to work with. They listened to my concerns and they worked with me...their serives is 5 - star; the product is 3 -star. ... show more
