I bought these because I needed a home for my ever growing book piles. I wanted something different and these fit the bill. They were time consuming to put together and I was glad my husband is great at doing this. The directions are easy to follow, but there are many steps and no words to accompany the pictures. Don't think you'll have these put together within minutes. It took my husband over an hour...and he used an actual drill, not the allen wrench that was supplied. I did not have great expectations, but wanted something that looked nice. I am very pleasantly surprised. The quality is better than most build at home furniture. Looks great and if you have a little experience building furniture like this at home, the instructions are not as difficult as some reviews make it sound. Just read them. 1. I assembled my self in about 2 hours. The steps could have been more specific. There was a lot on each page. The second shelf was easier since I had a better idea of which steps should actually come first 2. The top half and bottom half are only held together with 6 little screws. I feel like the split between the 2 halves could have been staggered so all 4 vertical boards didn’t split at the same spot. 3. Time will tell if the shelves can support a full load of books, but it seems good for now. The drawers work well enough and I like the size of the center cubes. They hold plenty of tall books 5. Overall, I am satisfied for the $89 I paid, but I don’t think I would have bought them at the full price. ... show more

This is a very nice bookshelf. It is very sturdy, does not need to be attached to the wall, the shelves are solid and do not bow at all, and it's a very aesthetically pleasing design. It does come in a ton of pieces and needs a lot of assembly, and while the assembly isn't hard, it does take a long time simply because it's so many pieces, so if assembly isn't your thing, you may want to avoid it, but otherwise, I'd highly recommend it. Be sure to check the actual dimensions listed though. While the listed dimensions are accurate, it is smaller than the pictures make it look as can be seen in the picture (shown next to one of the company's other bookshelves I also ordered in the picture - the other one was horrid in pretty much every way imaginable and needs to be replaced, but this one was great). ... show more

Like: fun design, pretty color, holds a good amount of books, pretty sturdy Dislike: short (I know, I should have confirmed measurements) but it's height does impact visual design- one or two feet taller and it would be much more pleasant to look at in the room; as is, it looks a bit stunted, assembly made logical sense but needed 2 people in order to move pieces without the unit falling apart. ... show more

This is somewhere in between a 3 and 4 star product. I do think the wood looks beautiful and I love the untraditional design, but it’s very short and was extremely difficult to put together. It took me and my boyfriend five hours to do!! The directions were confusing and mistakes were made, but even if done perfectly they give you a tiny Allen wrench to do everything and it takes forever... also they make uou put the dowels in first so the pieces are very precarious and fragile. I knew the bookcase was going to be small from the measurements, but I was still surprised when I finally stood it up after five hours of work to find it barely to my shoulders. Overall I think it does the job and is attractive! ... show more

    • Great For Small Spaces, Solid, Nice Looking - but not the easiest to assemble
I didn't have much depth or width but needed more bookshelf space for books and picture frames. This is an interesting design and fits perfectly. It's not real tall but gives lots of space for books and pictures. It looks nice and is solid once put together. For the money a really great deal. It does take a lot of time to put together and the instructions are OK, but you have to be really careful about getting the boards oriented properly. There are lots of different boards that are very close to the same but have small holes on one end. The directions don't do a great job of calling them out. If you are careful and take your time, you will be ok. Lots of screws, so an electric driver supporting alan type and Phillip heads it will go much faster. ... show more
