  • CHEAP product and BREACH of warranty
The USB output jack broke loose inside this keyboard while unplugging a cord---after just a handful of plugs/unplugs. The loose jack inside the keyboard then caused the main board to malfunction. Roland's customer service department refuses to honor the warranty and has determined that the damage done to the keyboard is not a result of defects in materials and/or workmanship. Customer service states that “with this unit being almost a year old, the cause of the damage was due to normal wear and tear.” A company cannot have a 1-year warranty covering parts for defects in materials and/or workmanship and then claim that said parts should typically break in less than 1 year following prescribed use. Buyer beware! This is a cheap product, and, from my experience, Roland will attempt to breach their warranty agreement to avoid paying for repairs. The following is the email exchange between me and Roland customer service: ME I’ve sent the keyboard in for repair. Please note that in addition to the broken USB output jack, the keyboard no longer boots up. The screen just displays ‘Roland,’ and never progresses past that. Perhaps the broken jack shorted things inside?? Look forward to the repair estimates. ROLAND Enclosed is the estimate cost for the repair of service order# XXXXXXXX below. Product: GO-61K Parts: $106.05 Labor: $40.00 S/H: tbd Sales Tax: n/a Total: $146.05 + s/h and tax ME Thanks for the reply. Please note that parts should be under warranty. Please let me know if this is right. ROLAND With the damage being done not being a manufacturer defect, it is not covered under warranty. ME The broken part is indeed a defect in materials and/or workmanship. How can I appeal that decision that it’s not a manufacturer defect? ROLAND I'll forward this to my supervisor so they can speak with out technician regarding this. ROLAND The damage to this unit was caused by physical damage, therefore is not covered under warranty. The part needing to be replaced is the main board which was caused by the physical damage. Also, with this unit being almost a year old, the cause of the damage was due to normal wear and tear, not a manufacturer defect. ME Are you telling me that it’s normal for the USB output jack to break off of Roland products after a year? Besides, that jack had been used only a handful of times and broke off when unplugging a cord. You warranty information states that defects in materials and/or workmanship are covered. It is not normal wear and tear for jacks to start breaking off in under a year of use. Please let me know how this decision can be appealed. I intend to keep perusing my rights under the limited warranty protection. Roland has yet to respond to my final email. ... show more

  • Unique Product At This Price Range
Satisfaction: - I think this is the lightest keyboard on the market with full-sized keys, onboard speakers, touch sensitive buttons (except for the power button), 500 quality sounds, etc. - The key action has the rubbery feel that is a bit unique. But once I get used to it, it feels quiet nice. - The record mode allows many layers of overdubbing from all categories (piano, organ, strings, brass, drum, bass, synth, fx/guitar). The sounds are all already professionally mixed and they will magically sound good together. This is real nice for music production ideas. - Nice color and design. It will look good outside in the park, in the woods, the beach, etc. Setback: - The acoustic piano sounds are not as great as the Go:Piano (Go:Piano's GO Grand is more dynamic than both StageGrand & ConcertGrand on the Go:Keys). However, Go:Keys has the same EPs and plus more. - The onboard speakers could be a little bit better. - There isn't a split mode. Conclusion: I have the Kawai ES110 and the Yamaha YPG235. This Go:Keys definitely adds the fun part. Would buy again and recommend it to beginners and intermediates. ... show more

  • Awesome value for a beginners synth
Purchased for our son who is a beginner. He plays every day and we love the fact that this synth promotes his creativity and interest. We took it on vacation with batteries and it was so light to transport. The sound and features of this model Roland are exceptional at this price point. He prefers to play this over video games, so to us it’s worth 5 times the price. Great value. ... show more

  • great keyboard
This is a great keyboard! Excellent value for the money. The speakers aren't that great but acceptable. I mostly use headphones which sound great. I love that my mobile device connects audio through Bluetooth which flawlessly comes through the headphones. I've listened to non music though it as well. Its amazing. I like the myriad of sounds Roland provides. The feel of the keys are great. Not really weighted but I didn't really expect that anyway. I wish that there were more accessories or add-ons to buy from Roland. Would have really been nice to add on more sounds and such but alas, no. There are features that I might never use however all in all I would buy it again for the purpose of learning music. There is nothing on the market that does what this does for the money. I dislike the touch intensity of the keyboard. I keep the key intensity setting off. Why? Pianos get louder when the keys are struck harder. This does too but it sounds odd on this keyboard. It sounds too digital so I keep it off. I really enjoy this keyboard and would buy it again. ... show more

  • Can't split, and poor speakers, but sounds great with amp
The only things I don't like is that I can't split with left hand being bass and right hand as a piano sound... The speaker quality is not great and sounds like a throw away keyboard.. but hooked up to a amp, sounds amazing.
