OK...these are good figs, but not great figs. The sweetness is just right and they're tasty. The downside is that the skin is a bit blotchy and the texture a bit tough.

Canned figs are a through back to my childhood. My mother served canned figs frequently as a fruit with breakfast, an accompaniment to cottage cheese as a lunchtime meal and part of a pork or chicken dinner in the evenings. They were an integral part of our everyday diet. A few years ago, I discovered they were no longer offered as a standard shelf item in the canned fruit section of Ralphs Market or any market.
