  • I like it ...
Style: DeadCat Windshield
I put off buying this for about a year because of the price ... $39 seemed expensive for a fuzzy sock. However, I began doing more interviews in the field for short videos related to a non-profit I volunteer for. The wind noise with my Cannon 70D was a real issue ... people thought it was thunder when they heard the audio - and where I live wind is almost always a factor. I needed to do something. Searching through the internet for solutions kept bringing me back to this product. So I finally bit the bullet and bought this 'deadcat'. It works. And now I wish I had bought it a while back. Small breezes that used to sound like crackling thunder are no longer even heard. Strong, hat-holding, wind sounds like ... wind, and voices can still be clearly heard above the background wind noise. Cons ... I did have to trim back some of the dead cat hair as it would hang down over some of my lenses, especially on a windy day, but, really, that's a non-issue. And the dog thought it was a toy for him when it arrived ... that almost ended badly for the dead cat and the microphone inside it when I left it on my desktop. Lesson learned there. Bottom line ... it fits my Rode boom mike with room to spare. It works. It's worth the price. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Works Great. Looks cool.
Style: DeadCat Windshield
Wind stinks!! It often seemed like anytime I took a home listing and scheduled the video shoot, wind was a problem that day. Because Oklahoma is always trying to wind-drop their top soil into Texas for some reason. I had spent all this money improving my video look, but sound was still making outside shoots sound amateurish. So I bought two Rode products: the video mic and the Deadcat Wind Muff. Now, I'm not nearly as worried about the wind, and the sound is great! Two added benefits: It makes my camera look impressively professional; and I get to drop the term "Deadcat" into punch bowl conversations. Into conversations. Not punch bowls. In related news, my party-invites are way down. ... show more

  • Kills Wind
Style: DeadCat Windshield
This wind killer does a great job. I note one reviewer rated it 2 stars and said it dosen't do the job. I suspect he was trying to record audio in a strong wind. This "dead-cat" is not designed to be used in strong winds. That's why Hollywood does not film with strong winds unless they dub in studio sound . This unit does a great job in breezes and mild winds. ***** stars. (See the H4N with a 'Dead-Kitten' on the product page.) ... show more

  • Fabulous
Style: DeadCat Windshield
Deadcat wind muff is an excellent buy. If you do audio for video and need a mic cover, this one is terrific you can hear the difference immediately. I leave it on the mic constantly it really has helped the sound quality and it is really helpful in cutting out wind noise. If more stars were available I'd select them all. ... show more

  • Perfect fit. No wind noise.
Style: DeadCat Windshield
I had to record an outdoor event with a possibility of wind and this dead cat went over my original foam windscreen. It works great I had no wind noise coming through to the microphone at all

  • Does the job!
Style: DeadCat Windshield
I bought this along with the shotgun mic. I've been using it to video record live music for a classic rock band that I manage. Pointing it at the stage in an outdoor venue from about 50' away. I am generally happy with the results. Obviously I'm not getting studio quality sound but I am getting the best sound I've been getting by any other means so far. ... show more

  • Works great
Style: DeadCat Windshield
Despite what the name of the product is, this is not a real dead cat. I was hoping for an actual dead cat when I ordered this, but when I received the Deadcat Wind Muff, I actually realized, "Hey, I have a Rode NTG2 Microphone this would work on." So instead of giving a 1 star because it wasn't the dead cat I was looking for, it gets 5 stars for being a very functional wind muff. Only complaint is that some of the "fur" sheds. Keep it in a ziplock if you keep it with your gear or else you could get cat hair everywhere. Just like a real cat. ... show more

  • Nice Muff :)
Style: DeadCat Windshield
This covers my Rode Videomic great. It seems to work well in windy conditions and does exactly what it is suppose to do. The only downer is that it is a little more expensive than what I would have thought or liked to pay, but what can you do?
