I will say that I usually don't spend this much on shoes, but I needed a pair of boots that I could wear that didn't look too "work like" but also not too casual. The fit was perfect and really liked the color. Size fits as expected. I got a 9.5 as I'm halfway between a 9 and a 9.5 and it doesn't ride up and down or anything. Quite comfortable. I buy work boots for landscaping about twice a year. Nothing lasts as well as in decades gone by.... These are lightweight and available in comfortable wide sizes. When walking many miles a day behind a mower or up and down hills this is very important. More so as I get older and toes and bones start getting crooked. The sole wears down rapidly, which I actually prefer, since it basically conforms to my gait over time. The tread is somewhat aggressive to start off but mellows out within a few months, so I am not tracking mud all over the place. "Waterproof" is an vague concept these days--the only real waterproof boots are made of rubber or vinyl, and I have some of those for rain work. This boot, like most--even Merrill or other high-end boots--are only waterproof to the extent that you can walk through puddles or wet grass. There is no continuous waterproofing membrane across the tongue, so when I wash off my boots at the end of the day I don't want to get the hose on the top of the boot. The side leather is soft enough that you aren't "kicking" these on--you have to sit and pull them on. Overall, though, for daily outside work boots, these are great. The laces are flat shoe laces instead of the round profile laces on most boots. This means they don't come undone all the time--yay-, but it also means they are hard to unlace if wet and they are pretty thin, so they may break if you wear them every day and keep them more than a year ... show more
