  • Comfortable, Light, but Sturdy
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Dark Brown
I like a more traditional walking shoe. After reading other reviews, I was not sure that I would like these, but with my previous experience with Rockports being very positive, I decided to take a chance. The shoes arrived we packaged and in excellent condition. The size is perfect and and I love the sole--lugged but also cushioned. The look is traditional, and so far, they have held up well. Some other reviewers commented that the look was "pleather" rather than leather. Having had shoes from other makers (Johnston and Murphy, Allen Edmonds), this is waterproofed leather. It has a different sheen than natural leather, but does a great job of repelling water. All in all, I highly recommend this shoe. ... show more

  • A good all-purpose rain shoe
Size: 13 Color: Black
The shoes fit well and seem to be sturdily made. I've worn them a few times in very rainy conditions, and they are definitely waterproof. The style is quite generic and unfussy, which makes them very versatile. They look fine with jeans and, while nobody will mistake them for expensive oxfords, you could get away with wearing them with a suit in a pinch. Looking at the photos on amazon, I was concerned that the heels might be uncomfortably high. But that turns out not to be the case; the heels feel normal. These are not my most comfortable shoes, but I'd say that they achieve a good balance between looks (they go with almost anything), comfort (decent), and function (waterproof), at a decent price (less than $100). One quibble is that the shoes have very little arch support, so I will probably need to purchase more supportive insoles. ... show more

  • Very nice and comfortable!
Size: 12 X-Wide Color: Black
These shoes are lightweight and comfortable, and a good value. Sizing is true. They appear to be well made. Packaging was excellent and shipping was rapid. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a business casual shoe.

  • Affordable Waterproof Comfort
Size: 11.5 Color: Black
This is my third pair. Bought my first pair about 2 years ago and then bought a brown pair to alternate. My black shoes get worn a lot more and the soles have finally started becoming a bit thin. I have about 35 minutes of walking on my daily commute so I need comfortable shoes. I haven't found a more comfortable dress shoe yet, in this price range. I have seen a lot of criticism over build quality diminishing, but the shoes I have purchased have been very comfortable and I would consider them long lasting. They are definitely water proof which is great for the Pacific Northwest weather I endure. I can stomp through puddles and torrential rain knowing my feet with be dry when I arrive at work. I was even standing in 1" of water at work once when a bathroom sink was flooding and my feet were still dry. A touch of shoe polish every 8 months and these shoes continue to look near new. I did have to replace my laces about 1 year in though. If there is a more comfortable, well fitting, but dressy shoe out there in the same price range, I would love to know about it. Otherwise, I believe you will be hard pressed to find a better shoe in this category. *****UPDATE The laces issue appears to have been addressed. My newest shoe laces seem much sturdier and I believe will last the life of the shoe. The soft soles do wear through quicker than I like, but this is likely why they are so damn comfortable. This is still my business casual shoe of choice. ... show more

  • As it used to be except for the waterproofing and stitching
Size: 8 Wide Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. I bought Rockport Northfield back in around 2007. It was light and comfortable with 1 inch heels. However, the outsole and insole didn't last long enough then. Both sides outsoles were prematurely worn out and insoles start to have holes in them within 6 month. Luckily I got the free retail store service. And it lasted until 2020. They were not my daily shoes but I wore them when there were formal occasions. They were simply the go to shoes for somewhat dressier gatherings or events. Recently, I noticed the outer leather cracked here and there. The leather must be de-moisturized and I confess that I didn't care them often enough since I found more comfortable and casual shoes, Keen. I have several pairs of Rockport shoes and some other brand's but none of them were satisfying enough for a semi-formal suit and tie occasion. So I bought Northfield Oxford again. And I noticed it wasn't what it used to be. First of all, not like the shoes I wore until recently, the shoe tongue is not linked with the quarters, the shoe lacing leather parts, which would decrease the shoes waterproofing abilities. And the stitching on the vamp and quarters is terrible. The leather parts were loosely joined with stitching and I can see the holes, which were twice or three times the size of the thread. Let alone the waterproofing capability I was worried that it wouldn't last long enough before the loosely joint threads are going to to pull the leather to torn apart. I felt three problems in there: under-skilled worker, low quality leather and poor quality control. I returned the first pair but second pair wasn't that different from the first one. I thought for a while but for the old time's sake I decided to keep it. Yes, it was cheaper than it used to be. I am sad to see once great Rockport is becoming a crappy brand or I wonder are the shoes on Amazon are all defective ones. ... show more
