These are really great casual shoes. Very comfortable but sturdy. The soles are whisper quiet but heavy duty. They are not heavy shoes but I would not call them lightweight. Just right. They are really well made and look very nice like a designer work boot. If they get scuffed, you can easily polish them. They were a little stiff to start at first but like all good leather shoes break in real nice. They are elegant in their simplicity. For the money these are really great deal.

I purchased these as work boots, for a part-time seasonal job. I didn't know what to expect, but they looked nice, comfortable, and are water resistant. I had them for 6 months, and wore them throughout multiple work & casual environments. I think that these boots are best suited for normal casual to light work (office, front store retail, light warehouse work, and non-construction environment). They are not slip resistant and perform poorly in any professional kitchen like setting. They are excellent within shallow puddles (that doesn't go above the 3rd shoe lace hole), and in rainy conditions. I walk around 20k steps daily, and my feet has good breathing room, doesn't ache at the end of the day, and I like the comfort and support I feel with them. These boots will not protect your toes from heavy objects, bumps with pallet jacks (or equipment in that realm). These boots lean further to casual than work, and the expectation of these boots should be based on casual performance.

Over the course of several weeks I tried to find new dress boots online as well as via a large super mall. After two unsuccessful attempts with Amazon - 11.5 Chucka Boot and 10.5 W Rockport Storm Surge - I landed on these Rockport Men's Northfield Waterproof Boot in the 11.5 W size. My previous boot sizes (Merrill and Timberland) would range from 10.5 W to 11. My Merrill's are brown, purchased from Dicks, are extremely comfortable and suitable for hiking, but not going out. My Timberlands look pretty good, but have been re-glued/sown about three times now and have never been very comfortable, requiring an aftermarket insole to get even close to wearable for long periods. The biggest issue I generally have is my thick instep, which makes boot shopping very frustrating. Rockport Men's Northfield Waterproof Boots fit very well with thick socks, and allow me a bit of wiggle room for comfortable wear on stage, which is their primary use. At the super mall, I tried about a dozen brands, including Dockers and some others which I found to be very uncomfortable. After being exposed to 100s of people at the mall, I came down with a bad cold, which made me glad to go back to the online option. Prices in stores are out of control too, so I am happy with this purchase all around. These Rockport Men's Northfield Waterproof Boot may not be 100% what I was after in terms of style (maybe 80%), but I wore them for a gig, a 4-hour workshop, and an 8-hr drive, and they passed with flying colors. I'd keep them around, even if I find something more stylish, which is not very likely .

Really happy with these boots. They look good, feel good are truly waterproof in rain and snow. I wore them through the last winter here in western Mass and they still look good and feel good. 5 stars

I wore these new Rockport boots on a recent trip to Stockholm where we did lots of walking (18k steps one day!) and was very pleased with their fit, comfort, and water resistance in the autumn Swedish drizzle. My first impression was how light they are, compared to the heavy-duty Italian trekking boot I typically wear. The exterior finish has held up well. I would rate these as an excellent value and would purchase another pair down the road. A very nice casual travel boot.

January 2022 PROS: Affordable. Look good - a step above men's work boots. Doesn't look like a clown-shoe like other men's boots. Comfortable. Good strong laces and eyelets. Plenty of room for my toes and no rubbing on my heel. Plenty of color options. CONS: Quality. I have two pairs of these boots, and both make a "schwack" sound when I walk. Very annoying when you're walking in a quiet space with other people around. Not sure if its the leather upper where the toes bend snapping back into shape, or something in the sole, but every step makes that noise. Little to no insulation. Even with heavy wool socks, my feet quickly feel cold when you're outside on a cold day for more than a few minutes. Tag that came with boots mentions synthetic leather, but I'm not even sure which part of the boot is synthetic. These are "good enough" boots for me. I don't want to spend $400 for a high-quality pair of boots as I'm not that fashionable and I don't need work-quality boots. I don't expect these to last a lifetime and I'm not torturing them by walking in heavy snow or wet conditions. If you're constantly having to walk in wintery or wet conditions, I'm not sure I'd recommend these. But for in the home/office or around town, they're fine.
