  • Disappointed
Size: Executive (6"x8.8")
I learned about Rocket Book last summer and bought the Wave notebook. I really liked the idea of being able to upload my notes easily and choose from the preset destinations. I was looking forward to being able to erase all my writing by simply microwaving it and reusing the same notebook again and again. Well I finally was close to the end of the notebook and with a new school year starting, I thought it was time to erase everything from last year and start fresh. I pulled up the directions on the site, and followed them. Microwaving the notebook did erase the ink, however it left behind a 'shadow or outline' of all my writing. (See the before and after pictures that I attached.) That is not what I expected or want I understood would be the results when the pages were cleared. I unfortunately I'm not going to be able to reuse this notebook and wasted $26. ... show more

  • Rocketbook is somewhat ok, but I think there are more convenient and more effective ways to do the same thing.
Size: Standard (8.5"x9.5")
[See December 15th update about an improved notebook at the end of this review.] I've had the Rocketbook Wave for about a week. My initial impression is that it's ok, but not yet great. I like the idea that I can write in a notebook (or with paper available from rocketbook's website). But I can write on many notebooks, so there is no game changer here. I like the idea that I can scan the pages I wrote and then, relatively quickly, send those pages to a variety of cloud services or email accounts, using the Rocketbook app. But I can do that with other apps - like Scannable, scansnap, or scanner pro (among other apps). With the other apps, I can scan multiple pages into the same pdf or other file. I have not figured out how to do that with rocketbook, so with that app, i get separate pdf pages. I'm still looking for a way to fix that. I'm not crazy about the microwave feature for two reasons. The first reason is rocket books requires the microwave to have a rotating turntable. I have that, but my microwave is too small, so the book cannot rotate. I did not know about that constraint until I read the small print. The second reason is the notebook apparently lasts for about 5 erasures. Clearly not the last note book one will buy. So, after one week, I find myself wondering what the big deal is. I may be missing something. It seems to me buying a notebook you like, taking pictures of the pages you've written on with one of several functional scanner apps, and then sending them to your favorite cloud service does the same thing rocketbook does. But with less hassle. I'll keep using the rocketbook and the app for awhile longer, and revise this review if appropriate. December 15, 2016 update: Rocketbook is coming out with another version of their notebook. It's called the Everlast Notebook. It is due sometime in April 2017. The original notebook could be used about 5 times. The Everlast (according to the manufacturer) can be used about 1000 times. The original notebook was erased in a microwave oven. According to the manufacturer, "The Rocketbook Everlast can be reused by wiping the page clean with a moist towel." Search for "The Everlast Notebook" on kickstarter for details. ... show more

  • COLLEGE STUDENTS!
Size: Standard (8.5"x9.5")
Okay so I have been using this notebook for quite some time now, and from what I learned is that this notebook is a somewhat cool buy. The price, on the other hand, says otherwise. The whole premise of this notebook is that you can reuse it, up to five times, and upload your notes to cloud destinations. However, there is nothing special about the notebook, it's the ink. Frixion pens are designed to fade when exposed to heat. Even so, after you have microwaved your notebook, there is still the "ghost" of your previous writings. As a college student on the go, the cover has held up for the past three months but is starting to fall apart as with the binding. Keep in mind that I store my notebook in my backpack which is very well organized, so for the actual build of the notebook, it could be better. So in the end what to stop a person from just buying a regular notebook, that's a bit heat resistant, and just using friction pens? Nothing, because in the long run, that is still cheaper, buying a whole set of multi-colored Frixion pens and a regular notebook. Would I buy this product again? Probably not. Would I recommend this to a college student? Sure if you have money to spend. PS: This notebook also comes with an app that scans your notes. Which sounds cool and all, but you can just download some scanner apps or Adobe Spark and just take photos of your notes that way. The Rocketbook app isn't that special anyway, hasn't even had an update since I got this notebook. Update: After just three semesters the notebook has fallen apart. For the price this notebook is not worth it at all. I really liked this thing a lot, but it cannot withstand the constant microwave treatments. The spine has fallen apart as well. ... show more
