  • Revolutionary Notebook
Size: Standard (8.5"x9.5") Number of Items: 1
This notebook is literally everything I have ever wanted in writing. Pros: I am a person, who, before this notebook, already used PILOT Frixion Ball-pens for years, and, after using them for a few days, noticed the ink could be erased with heat, and always wondered how to apply this to a revolutionary product... In short, Rocketbook beat me to it, with a design no one else can beat: a fantastic notebook with no-snag wiring, plastic (untearable) front-and-back covers, and some sort of special paper that just, for some reason, feels different. On top of the design, the "smart-notebook" features are GENIUS! I LOVE uploading the pages! It takes a bit to get used to at first, but after a few tries, uploading pages is a breeze with the Rocketbook app. My favorite feature overall, however, is the ability to microwave your notebook, and have it erase all the pages! This is SUPER cool! Cons: There is one VERY significant problem: When people use pens, they typically press down on the paper when writing, which means that, even if the ink is erased, there are still visible strokes on the paper. However, the Rocketbook app NEVER picks up these strokes, so the uploaded pages are always perfect. Still, the strokes accumulate over time, and that means that the page begins to have wear-and-tear on it. Additionally, the covers of the notebook are VERY prone to getting scratched, and even just using it as a surface to write on top of leaves very noticeable marks, which cause me to feel slightly uneasy, and the notebook doesn't look new even after about 5 days. Additionally, the ink itself, when thick lines are made with the pen, when erased leaves very noticeable streaks, that, still, however, are not picked up by the Rocketbook scanner app. In the end, this notebook cannot be reused more than a couple dozen times, so expect to buy one each year (that is, if you write 5 pages a day like I do, otherwise, don't worry about having to buy more than one). Conclusion: Even though there are some flaws, the Rocketbook Wave Smart Notebook is a VERY useful notebook, and its features are definitely worth the money. The notebook itself will last the average notetaker or writer a couple of years, and the uploading features are priceless. Attached is the first scan I did, as you can see, the capturing abilities are great. Even though my son's handwriting isn't the best, the scanner captures every beautiful detail of it. I look forward to more from Rocket Innovations, Inc.! ... show more

  • Durable and Long-Lasting
Size: Standard (8.5"x9.5") Number of Items: 1
I purchased this back at the end of 2018 and it still works relatively well! I am very pleased with this purchase. I absolutely LOVE Rocketbook as a company and their products have not yet disappointed me. To give context: I am a college student and I use my notebooks for all of my classes, plus extracurricular activities. The left-behind writing is true, but I've found that this doesn't transfer to the scanned page (I have both images attached). I am thinking this is because the heat only takes out the pigment of the ink (this may be wrong, but I have seen this same thing with the Frixion pens on regular paper). I think if you're looking for something that feels like writing writing on regular paper but you value having pages easily scanned to your Google Drive, and you aren't distracted by the writing left behind, then this should work really well for you, too! A few notes/pieces of advice: 1) I was gifted a second one in the middle of 2019, which has helped spread the use across two notebooks. I think this has helped with the longevity of both books. The one pictured is my 2018 book. I realize this means that you would be spending ~$52 on the notebooks, but compared to purchasing a tablet (with a surface that does not feel like paper), an Apple pen, or (if waste is not a concern) buying a multipage scanner all costs much more than this. 2) I would not suggest using Frixion highlighters, or using Frixion pens that are the colors pink or red in these journals. The highlighters and the pink does not pick up as well, and red seems to stain the notebook more than any other color does (again, I only notice it as I am writing, but not in my scans). 3) There is an alternative to this called the Rocketbook Core. They are not microwaveable pages, but instead use water and a towel. These do NOT leave behind any markings, and seem to pick up a little more color than the Wave does. I have one of these and while I agree that it works well, it still has that "slippery" feeling that I don't like when writing. It doesn't feel like paper. Also, the cleaning takes a few minutes because you have to wipe each and every page, and wait for the page to dry before moving onto the next one. I think if you're someone who doesn't mind the feel of the writing surface, and you want something with these perks (plus more color readability), this type may be a better fit for you. 4) I see a few reviews talking about their notebooks catching on fire. I do not know what these people are doing, but I can imagine the frustration that comes with that happening. This is what I do each time I put my book in the microwave: First, I get a mug filled halfway with room temperature water. Then I put the book in the microwave (with the mug on top, directly in the center of the circle on the cover) for 1 min and I CONTINUALLY watch. AS SOON AS the arrow on the cover is gone is when I take it out and flip the book (yes, it is hot). I thumb through the pages (mainly because I still think its so cool to see the writing gone... I am unsure if this actually does anything). Finally I put it back in, continually watch, and remove as soon as the arrow is gone on the second page. This has worked for me every single time. Hopefully this helps others too! Either way, I think this is a great idea and I really like that it hits the mark for me in most ways. ... show more
