I have always loved quad skating, but desperately needed a new pair of skates. I started my search with a stereotypical high boot, which was an absolute delight (/s) since it seems as though everyone discovered roller skating during the pandemic. I eventually found a pair of Chaya Melrose skates through a different vendor. I immediately discovered several problems with those skates. Although the wheels are described as being for outdoor use, they actually say "Indoor" on the wheel and there is no way they are actually 78A. Even after swapping out the wheels with actual outdoor wheels, the bigger problem turned out to be the fixed (bolt-on) stopper. It's placed so far up that it's impossible to use it without contorting your leg and there is no way to adjust it. I decided I needed a different pair of skates, but wasn't going to invest in another pair unless it came with an adjustable stopper. Weirdly, it's hard to find a dedicated outdoor skates without a fixed stopper. There are the Moxi Lollis, but they are not only impossible to find right now (literally), they have a notoriously slim boot. I have wide feet (D) and I really didn't fancy the idea of having to break in skate boots. On a lark, I decided to try a roller derby skate with a low boot since I already have my own outdoor wheels. I decided to go with these Sure-Grips since they are highly rated for beginners. Right out of the box, I was really excited about the fit. I swapped the out the indoor wheels and stoppers for Sure-Grip Boardwalk wheels and Jupiter toe stops and took them for a spin. I loved how the lower boot felt as I skated on my bumpy street! I couldn't have been happier with having taken a chance on a different type of boot. Sadly, I only got the test them out a couple of times over the course of 24 hours before the boot came apart. As you can see in the pictures, the interior of the back of the boot pulled away from the exterior. Considering they were brand-new, it was unacceptable, so I returned them. Bought for my son for his 13th birthday, he is very happy with them. Look just as pictured and fit perfectly. Only issue is the shoe strings… after putting them on and tightening them the first time the strings ripped!!!!

these skates are great, my only complaint is that the laces they come with are weak and broke the first time i tightened the skates. cheap easy fix, and they're great value for the cost!

    • Very Comfortable!
I was a competitive artistic roller skater in my younger days and continued to use my competitive roller skates throughout my adulthood. As my feet changed I could no longer wear my beloved roller skates (wide feet and Morton's Neuroma, very painful if shoe does not fit). Knowing that quality roller skates makes all the difference in a quality and fun experience, I was very reluctant to purchase a roller skate without ankle support or NON-leather boot also worried about the width since most shoes/boots are sold in Medium width. These skates exceeded my expectations! Bought a half size larger so I could use my support inserts and also allow for the correct socks, WOW they fit perfectly and have just enough support around the ankle to enjoy my rusty skills. I don't throw my self around the rink anymore but really enjoy these skates. The wheels, trucks and plates are solid, the boots are flexible, padded (great for sensitive feet) and lace up perfectly. Plus, they are very stylish! I would recommend for beginners and advanced skaters alike. I selected the gray boots, just love the matching marbled wheels. Nice Job, Sure Grip! Love my skates after 20 years of being off the skates rinks floors i decided to get back in a pair of skates yes I am out of my element but working my way back and a good pair of skates is a help these are them love love love them they fit well I wear a 8.5 in women and they fit like a glove

Comfortable right out of the box. Nice soft shoe makes for a comfortable first ride. These are sure-grip wheels, so there is not a lot of sliding. If you’re not used to it, there will be an adjustment period. I really like them… good product for the money.

These derby quad skates have decent value for the price. Wheels are a bit too grippy for my recreational indoor rinking. Not bad though. I would’ve given 5 stars if the right boot lace hadn’t broke on my first time out. Left me in an awkward predicament. (Plan on ordering some backups with your skate order) ... show more
