I'm on the tall and skinny side of things and the seat almost swallows me up. very comfortable. the lift shock also works as a shock absorber and the seat spins freely, and every single time i sit in it, the seat drops down a little bit and reminds me of how amazingly comfortable it is. the fact that it is a tractor style seat allows for easier balance when using my feet over using a round throne. Had a hard time getting the throne to lift at first because I guess I am not heavy enough. After contacting company, they replied. I repeated every step but this time I bounced quite a bit and the lever finally moved a bit more, the throne lifted, and the throne has worked perfectly since then.

Comfortable and stable, this throne has been awesome to play on. My old throne was about half the size and I felt like I was holding myself up and balancing as much as playing double bass. My one complaint would be that at 6'2", this throne is barely tall enough to keep my hips above my knees and any compression in the piston over time might be an issue. I had my Roc n Soc drum throne for years, and always found it super comfortable. I recently pulled my back to the point where walking, sitting, or standing were excruciating. I work from home, so I had to find a way to sit, and my office chair made the pain way worse. I had an idea to use my throne, at max height and behold, I was able to sit comfortably and work through the say without straining my back. Over all not bad. I'm 67 to start with and have had back surgery. Generally speaking this is a very good product and well made. Where it lacks for me is as follows... could allow for 1-2 inches more sitting height. I need more padding and I'd say an inch would do. I do find these saddle type seats cut into the back of your legs and create some sciatica. It is critical to sit back on the stool else it cuts even more into the back of the leg. I was going to return but decide to keep and if I can find a good price on the seat back I'll add that to see if over all comfort improves. ... show more

    • No instructions, here is how to set it up:

The throne comes in 2 pieces, the base and the seat. It's obvious how to place the seat on the base. However, what's not obvious is that the lever will remain slack with no tension or release that makes you think something wrong with the item. What you need to do is sit on it heavily, and might require extra few bounces, for the lever to click and become able to lift and lower the throne. Learned this the hard way. Would have been much easier if there are instructions to inform you of this. ... show more
