Very well packaged. Spotlight cam works as it should. Like brand new out of the box. The reason why it wasn't a 5-star review was because we got a faulty battery. Yes, we bought a returned product, but I bought my ring doorbell as a returned product, and I was so impressed I decided to take a chance on a returned product again. Amazon is usually pretty good about inspecting and repackaging a returned product. I charged the battery for over 4 hours and was a bit surprised that the charge indicator still didn't show full charge. I put the battery in the spotlight cam anyways so I could make sure the cam worked properly and finish the install and set up before nighttime. Upon finishing the setup on my ring app, I was already getting low battery notifications informing me that the battery was only at 30% charge. There is no way after 4 plus hours on the charger that 30% was all I got. So either this this product was returned due to a faulty battery and Amazon failed to replace it, or the original customer decided to trade one of his batteries from their pre-existing ring product and return it with this returned product. Either way I feel like the product I received should have had the battery replaced period. Now I get to buy a new Ring battery and may as well have bought the brand-new product at this point. Update: Apparently these Ring batteries take a long time to full charge, but they do last a long time so it makes sense. Bought a brand new Ring battery and it took a long time to full charge as well. I was also able to full charge the battery that came with the Spotlight Cam so all is good ! Back to a 5 star rating.

My current setup is the Ring doorbell, doorbell solar charging mount, indoor chime, this Spotlight Cam Plus and the 4w solar panel (UPDATE: Replaced the doorbell cam with a plug-in Spotlight Cam Plus as the doorbell cam was getting insufficient light to stay charged). Setting everything up including the preferred settings in the Ring App was surprisingly quick & easy. Everything appears to be quality construction and the ability for the Spotlight Cam Plus to hold 2 batteries is a plus in my book. When mounted as suggested, video quality & motion detection are great, and the solar panel does a good job of keeping both batteries topped off even when mounted in a less-than-ideal location (panel facing due East is the best I can do). To mount on the vinyl siding w/o drilling any holes, I bought these from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XG17SPY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 , and they work very well w/the mounting holes on the camera's base. Very easy to attach or move, if need be, but be aware they're also easy to remove just by rotating the camera up 90 degrees. This makes theft easy so if you go this route be sure to mount up high where it's hard to reach. My only real complaint about this camera: I specifically chose the Spotlight Cam over the regular Outdoor Cam Plus because I wanted the motion-activated LED lights as a deterrent to would-be intruders. Unfortunately, it wasn't until after I had it mounted and set up that I learned the LED lights motion-activate only with a wired or plug-in power supply, not solar or battery. This is not mentioned anywhere in the description (not Amazon's fault) and had I been aware of this would probably have gone with the less expensive Outdoor Cam Plus for my needs. Aside from that, I would recommend this camera to anyone who is fully aware of its capabilities & limitations. 4.5 stars, thumbs-up! ETA: I contacted RING tech support and after a number of tests they believe the camera's defective, the LED lights should be motion-activated even when on battery. They're sending me a replacement, I'll update this review after the new camera is installed & tested. ETA2: After another factory reset and reboot, the camera LED lights now appear to function normally. At 2am this morning they came on as they should when I entered the back patio. Research shows this is not an uncommon problem with this camera, but I still give it 5 stars. ETA3: I now have 6 of these cameras arranged around my house; 5 plugged into weatherproof exterior outlets & 1 with a solar panel, all with the dual internal backup batteries. Two of them failed early on; one with a burned-out video processor and the other died and wouldn't go into setup mode. RING was quick to help diagnose then replace them. Aside from that, I love the ease of initial setup and the abundance of monitoring/recording options. It's worth it to explore all the options, that's when these cameras come into their own. Ex: The various modes (Disarmed, Home, Away) allow you to choose when the verbal warning ('Hi, you are currently being recorded') is active. We have it 'on' at night for our front door camera or when away, but 'off' during the day when we're at home (always 'on' the other cameras when active), the indoor chime lets us know if someone approaches our front door. Also, I switch off the AI detection choices (like vehicles, people or packages) as that slows the alert response time. Adjusting the motion detection zones and sensitivity can take a little while depending. Another plus for me over other cameras I've researched is the available solar/plug-in extension cord that allowed me to best place the cameras yet still use plug-in power. Despite the two outright camera failures, I still give this camera 4.75 stars.

This Ring Spotlight Cam Plus is worth the money! It displays quality of the picture as if I were seeing it through my own eyes! The brightness of the spotlight is phenomenal! It lights up a half acre lot with ease. I am disabled and I was able to install this camera because of its mountability! I installed 2 cameras on either side of my house with one being low and the other up high! The sound quality is also amazing!! I have red headed woodpeckers pounding on my house where I installed one of my cameras and the siren blows them off my siding! It also detects these birds which fly by in seconds which alerts me to their arrival so I'm ready to blow them away! Rings cameras are durable as I have had them for at least 5 or more years and wouldn't trade them for the world! They keep me safe in an isolated home in the middle of the woods! I absolutely love these cameras!

Ring products are generally easy to install and setup. In this case, I bought the Spotlight Cam Plus plug in model that comes with an approximately 20 food cord. The cord is split into a 12 foot AC power cable with male plug and a 8 foot DC USB C cable with male end. They are connected by a small ac/dc power supply. The location on my back patio where I wanted to install the camera was about 30 feet away from the outlet. I also wanted to hide the cable by tugging it under the edge of the soffit. There are several ways around the cable length issue, but the option I chose was to add two 6 foot female to male USB C cables. I was worried that the extra length would cause too much of a dc voltage drop but the camera seems to work fine. Also note that the female connector on the camera itself is a USB C type that was designed to be used with the male connector on the cable it came with. A third party may work, as mine did, but the fit might cause some issues depending on the housing surrounding the third party cable. Also, I don't know how all this would affect the warranty so you are on your own on that one.
