I was skeptical of a solar power system for a Ring cam, but it has worked perfectly now for 2 years. I placed 2 batteries in the camera, and I check the battery health pretty frequently (once a week, or two) and the battery level has never dropped below 45% one ONE battery, with the backup still at 100%. It was compatible with the solar Ring cam I bought, and easily installed. It just plays into a little usb type slot in the back of the camera. I mounted mine using a gutter mount, and it mounted easily as well. Needed a ladder, but no biggie. I was also concerned at first that the area I was planning to place the camera was on the shaded side of my home. This was not an issue. It apparently does not require much light to maintain the battery. In the one case ,y battery did dip down, it was because we were having new siding installed, and the camera was recording, and alerting CONSTANTLY for DAYS! I eventually just turned that camera off until the job was done, and by then the battery was fully charged again. I love Ring cams, and having the ability to use solar is a great feature. The only caveat is that the solar cameras are not quite as HD quality as the others, but it’s not a big deal. It still provides a motion light, voice control, and audio listening. If you’re debating on trying the solar panel for power, you can rest easy knowing it will work as all the rest of your Ring cams do. And it doesn’t use any power, so it runs for free! I wish all of them ran off the sun lol 😂 I hope my review helps.

Anyone considering mounting a Ring camera in a high place should also consider one of these solar charging panels. It eliminates the troublesome chore of climbing up to get the camera down to plug it in to charge batteries. In my opinion, it's the only sensible way to go. Works beautifully and it's not too expensive. Consider the gutter mount, which makes it extra easy to install.

I have two identical Ring cameras with two batteries each. One has the older, smaller solar panel that Ring offers. I ordered the larger solar panel that Ring offers thinking it would charge the two Ring batteries in my other Ring camera faster and more completely. The camera with the smaller solar panel charges way better... up to 100% on both batteries every day. The camera with this larger solar panel never gets above 90% for the two batteries. The odd thing is the camera that gets the most activity is the camera with the smaller solar panel, so you'd think it would have less charge at the end of the day. Nope. Both solar panels are set up to take advantage of the most hours of sunlight each day. Disappointed because this larger solar panel cost more, and it does not perform as well. Not worth taking it down and returning it. It does the job enough that it's not a problem for now.

The ring solar panel was easy to connect and start using. The battery charges slowly, so I'll update if I have any problems with it keeping a charge or anything else. So far so good! Product was packaged well and arrived fine. The fact that it was on sale with the camera made the deal too good to pass up. I like having all of my cameras in one place on the app, and it works well all together. The panel is small, so it doesn't stick out too much. It works well with the look of the camera. The quality of the camera picture is also great. These cameras have come a long way since they were first released.
