Description

Almazaras de la Subbética is more than just a family business: it is a company of 4000 families who live off and for the olive groves. They are located within the rugged and mountainous terrain of the Sierras Subbéticas national park, in the south of the Province of Córdoba, Due to the unique micro climate characterised by high rainfall and large temperature variations, the legendary olive trees develop into their singular shapes, standing majestically in a landscape that has remained unchanged through the passage of time. The Picudo and Hojiblanco olive groves are resistant to pests, frost and drought, adapted to limy soil and grow on slopes with as much as a 70% gradient and an altitude of between 700 and 1000 metres above sea level. Its adaptation to its rustic setting and the wisdom accumulated over many years (the olive trees have existed for hundreds and, in some cases, thousands of years) have provided the ideal conditions to produce the finest olives possible. Generation after generation of olive growers have passed on their expertise but, more than that, they have conveyed their passion for this land and these groves, which have become an intrinsic part of their life. Aroma/bouquet: Very intense green fruitiness. Many subtleties, demonstrating its great complexity. Traces of fruit and citrus. Herbal flavours: thyme and mint. Hints of vegetables like tomato plant. Flavour/taste: A sweet attack with a moderate palate of bitter, spicy, green almonds. A perfectly structured oil with a long, persistent finish that is sure to delight the taster. Suggestions for use: This fragrant oil is best when paired with heavier meals that are rich in flavour. Drizzle over toast, mixed salads, tomatoes, meat and oily fish.

Not inexpensive but worth every penny. Fruity and just a tiny bit peppery. This is the stuff you drizzle on food just before serving. It would be a bit extravagant to use it for everyday cooking.

  • Good but not great
Has a slightly rancid flavor note and aroma. Maybe the bottle I got was nearing the end of its shelf life. It wasn't awful or unusable but less enjoyable than I'd hoped.

Have you ever gone to a nice restaurant and thought: "Gee, I wish I had that olive oil they use for the bread dip, but I also don't want to pay 100+ in shipping." My friend, this EVOO is BETTER than most Italian EVOOs you will find there, AND it is cheaper. The flavor: -ALMOND/BUTTER! Up front, this full-bodied EVOO is very present and doesn't have that "milky" quality less powerful oils have. Very bold, butter, and strong mid-range flavor. -GRASS! A pleasant herbal/grass aftertaste that is nowhere near being overpowering. This only compliments the main profile of butter and nuttiness. -HEAT!   • Wow! This is different!
I'm a lover of Caprese salad, and am always looking for a better olive oil and balsamic to put on my mozzarella and tomatoes. I've finally found the ultimate olive oil! Rincon De La Subbetica is different. When you pour it out of the bottle, it is so thick it takes time to run down the long bottle neck and slowly, thickly, ladles out onto your food. This does not run like normal olive oil, which seems thin by comparison. It is dense, and piles up in a golden pool on top of your food. It is intense with flavor. It has those deep flavor notes that smack of olives, unpasteurized, raw, fresh! These olives come from ancient Spanish olive orchards, where the trees are over 500 years old, and boy does it taste superior to commercial grade olive oil. This is the real deal. ... show more

  • There is a new King in my olive oil world!
I have been a loyal customer of Papa Vince extra-virgin olive oil for years. Until today it was the best olive oil I’ve ever had. Over the years I’ve blind tasted against several over the years and it has always come out on top…until today. I just received my Rincon organic evoo olive oil today and blind tasted it against three others including my favorite. I have to say the Rincon is that good and nothing short of amazing!!!!
