  • Amazing stable leather skates
Color: Ocean Size: 9
I decided to keep the yellow Crew skates I ordered previously. But wanted to see if I could use another size before I made up my mind. I may get the blue ones down the road. The Crews are perfect skates for me. They have way more support than the Moxi Lolly’s. I will use the Riedell Crews for my normal outside trail skating, and slap harder wheels on the Lolly’s and use for inside. 2 problems solved. Best decision ever! Update- March 6, 2013- I skated 10 miles yesterday!!!! I had excellent support. The door bed was a bit tough on my left foot- no biggie! I’ll just experiment with foot beds for long journeys! I don’t think I could have gone so far in my Lolly’s. Also, got caught in a big downpour. I’m drying out and cleaning my bearings, to help save them from the nasty grime. I like to keep my skates in too shape- so I enjoy the maintenance! The the leather boots remained dry and easy to wipe off. I love these skates. I wish they would come in more colors. Seems like they would come with 65mm wheels and 78a hardness as opposed to the smaller wheels and 84a hybrid indoor/outdoor hardness they come with. But, easy change out. ... show more

  • Excellent 4 Beginners and "Mature"
Color: Crimson Size: 8
So, I hate calling myself old or older, hence the word mature in the title! I love these skates. I grew up skating (not at an expert level). Stopped skating until a few months ago and I started off with the roller rink rentals. After a few months, I bought $75 skates (named after a city) for my girls and borrowed one pair for a day. They were awful.. no padding and I swapped them out after 20 minutes. I researched and asked around for brand names. It came down to Reidell and another, so I decided to give these a shot. I usually wear 9s in women shoes, flats and heels, but ordered a size 8 because that's the size I rented. They are definitely snug, but I don't want them to be too big because then they are awkward and feel loose like when you're wearing giant shoes and hope they don't fall off. The padding and fit are great, I was shocked at how thick the padding was when I first saw them. I can wear these for hours. Poor picture, but it's the only I have right now. Good luck! ... show more

  • Riedell still means quality
Color: Crimson Size: 9
I hadn’t skated for decades, but remembered the Riedell name. After a few small adjustments, I was able to skate with ease. Highly recommend.

  • Mama’s got a new pair of skates
Color: Ocean Size: 7
Loving these. Used to skate every Friday night at my local rink as a kid. Haven’t skated in many years, took my kid to a birthday party at a local rink and had the time of our lives skating all night. The rentals were brutal and left huge blisters so didn’t plan on going back right away. Hubby bought these for me as a gift so we can all go skating again. Super comfy boot, fast, straight, solid feeling, just like my Riedells back in the day. Quality. Now I’m back to all the fun tricks I used to do and teaching the youngins how to skate backwards, turn, stop, and dance. Got a compliment I think of, “How do you make your feet do that?” ... show more

  • Smoothe roll, stiff boot
Color: Ocean Size: 7
Tried out new skates in my basement before taking them outside. Loved the smoothe wheel action, adjusted trucks, felt good, except for the boot. Boot is way too stiff around the ankle. After two hours of skating, slipped and fell. Leg went one way and skate went another. Heaviness of the skate and stiffness of the boot around the ankle, resulted in broken leg (fibula) at the ankle, unfortunately. Accident was due to poor decision on my part. Skated into an area with very little room for error. However, I do feel the outcome may not have been so bad if the skate hadn't been so heavy and stiff. Softer genuine leather boot is preferable. Will definitely be selling these. ... show more

  • Great starter skate/recreational skate
Color: Crimson Size: 8
Update: after breaking in these skates and changing out the stock bearings, I’m giving them 5 stars. They are comfortable, responsive and stylish. I’ve been skating on them for about a month (every other day for an hour or more) and love them. Who cares about a nylon plate? If I want to do park skating, I’ll worry about that then. Initial impressions- I grew up skating for hours on toy quality skates on our sidewalk and occasionally some rentals at the rink, so I am nowhere near a skate snob. When my kids asked to get into skating, I originally decided to go with Impalas for the $100 price point. While my foot technically fit, I knew immediately that they wouldn’t work. The pressure from that boot was painful to the point that I couldn’t wear them for more than ten minutes before I was packing them up and asking for a refund. These were my second choice. A higher price, for sure, but the quality seemed better and sizing was more straightforward. (I typically wear a women’s 9.5 and ordered an 8.) Right out of the box there was a significant difference between these and the Impalas. There was some stiffness in the boot but nothing overly pinched or felt painful. A few adjustments to the wheels and trucks and I was happily rolling away with my daughter. It will require a break-in period to get rid of that initial stiffness but they are comfortable and responsive to movement. One star off because I would have liked a metal plate for the price point. But given that I have no intention of hitting the skate park anytime soon, these are going to be more than enough to get me out at the local rink and hike/bike trail. If quality becomes a concern, I will update over time. ... show more
