This rice ball maker is easy to use. Place enough rice to cover the bottom half is the shaker. Close the lid and shake for 20ish times until a ball is formed. The puncher works fairly well with nori. I would recommend use better quality Nori to get clean cuts. My rice ball face didn’t come out cute. I got creepy-ish faces. Not sure what the advertiser used for the pink cheeks. Maybe the ginger that comes with sushi? Fun little gadget.

Love this thing! I’ve been making my toddler rice balls using a piece of Saran Wrap and it was so time consuming and messy. Made 9 perfect rice balls in under 2 minutes first time, rinsed the shaker off with sudsy water and done! My only regret is not buying one of these earlier!

I really want to add a little whimsy into making sushi lunch for for my kids. So I bought this to make some overbake seasoned riceballs. This contraption will make small balls that crumple after you transfer them out onto your plate. I try shaking it gentle, moderate and aggressively and nothing makes the riceballs hold up enough by hand, much less to use chopsticks to gently pick them up. It's a big disappointment.

Super easy to use. Here are some tips I found to be helpful. Use fresh and warm rice. The balls form much better with warm rice. Also do not try to over-stuff the compartments. I usually fill each section not more than half way and I do NOT pack the rice down. If you overfill the mold, you will not get nice, spherical, rice balls. If you are using old rice, it still needs to be warm and make sure it is not too wet, because the gluten will make the rice grains stick to the mold and not to each other. Good luck!

We had a lot of fun making little rice balls with emoji faces. I took one star off for sturdiness. Our rice ball mold didn't close tight so we held it in the middle while we shook it. Still worked great and is still worth the purchase. I would buy again.
