Most of the tools included are real tools. Real hammer, pliers, safety googles, and level. The other items are more toy like. If you do not have a responsible kid do not gift this because the tools are real. My grand kids did fine with them. Ages 3-5-7

I picked this up for my niece as she has demonstrated an interest in hand tools and building, but she only has access to toy tools and kits. I thought this would be a more advanced toy tool kit, but no, these are actual tools. I am very tempted to steal the 6" claw hammer as it is pretty hefty and comfortable for my small hands. I'm glad that my niece will have the opportunity to gain familiarity with real tools that happen to be the right size and weight for her small hands.
