  • Some fun, but bring AAA batteries
Style: Classic Grain
This retro console is rather inexpensive, so if you have realistic expectations, it's not too bad. In the box you get the mini TV with the 3 screen, a fake antenna attachment, an AV cable, a micro USB cable, and the controller. The fake antenna is just for looks. The AV cable is unlikely to work with most modern TVs since it's not HDMI. The mini TV can be charged through the microUSB port on the side. Charging takes well over an hour and it probably lasts for 4-6 hours of continuous playtime. The mini TV also has a mono speaker, a knob to turn it on and adjust volume, and a couple buttons in the front to pair the controller. The controller looks like an old school NES controller, but it doesn't have any wires. In the back you have to pop off a difficult-to-remove cover and you have to supply your own AAA batteries for it. So while the mini TV has a built-in rechargeable battery, the controller does not. The games are a hodge podge of ROMs and modded ROMs. There are a couple winners in here, though, like River City Ransom, Contra, and several shooters that are surprisingly good. There are also a ridiculous number of modded ROMs that use a Mario sprite playing some other game, or a different sprite playing a Mario game....like mix up where Mario has to stomp on Excite Bike guys instead of koopas. The menu system doesn't make much sense since it's broken up into categories, but the types of games don't always match the categories. You are just going to have to click stuff, browse, and experiment with the different games until you find ones you like. Overall, this thing is fine for a little fun or to give to small kids. But it's also confusing. Like, why even bother with wireless controllers if you are playing off a 3 inch mini screen? You have to be so close anyway that they just could have made the controller corded and then you wouldn't need batteries. And while we are at it, at this point, why not make the system a couple dollars more and just throw in a second controller to make things more fun? If this thing was ten dollars more, it would be 2-3 stars, but considering the cheap price, it's an ok 4-star item. ... show more

  • Cool gaming gift!
Style: Classic Grain
I was fairly surprised at how much fun this thing could be. It has a bunch of pre loaded classic games on it, plenty I've heard of - some that I haven't. The overall look and build quality is fine. There is a somewhat confusing batter situation though. It does have a rechargeable battery built in, but there are a few doors/compartments on the back that claim to lead to batteries, but my unit was half empty. I suspect this was by design, as the TV plastic mold is likely a generic one and for this manufacturer, they just didn't need all the extra space for non rechargeable batteries. Not an issue just something I noticed. Otherwise the one controller included is wireless and seems to hold a charge for a while. I'm not sure if they sell additional other remotes, but might be worth looking into. This items great for anyone looking for a gift, or something fun for yourself, so you can play some old Nintendo games without the need for a real/large system. ... show more

  • Makes A Great Gift
Style: Classic Grain
We've all seen these chip on a stick rom based consoles before but you're not really buying this for the games, you're getting it for the novel nostalgia and display factors. It comes with a small 3 inch tv with a fake antenna and a few games and a wireless controller all in the style of those 80's goodwill tvs we all grew up playing nintendo on. I like that the controller is wireless and the charging time is pretty good for the amount of play time you get out of it which was a 5 hour play time for a one hour or so charge. It doesn't have a hdmi cable output which is a bad choice as most western modern tvs don't have standard sd av cables. So get used to that tiny tv screen. Also the games are hit and miss, you have sme classics like Contra and all but then you got some homebrew questionable moddy types but theyre all worth trying regardless. Overall despite some shortcomings I highly recommend this product ... show more

  • Great For Kids, Retro Fans, Hardcore NES Fans, and Gamers That Need Everything
Style: Classic Grain
The media could not be loaded. I must be getting old because the whole retro design went way over my head. For those that just got this product or are planning to, you don't need to put 4 x AAA batteries into the console itself. While there is a compartment that says AAA batteries and 4 do fit, the electronics aren't there on the back end to use them in anyway. Instead, just charge through USB and let the internal rechargeable battery be the power source. The instructions are pretty bad in terms of font size and English to understand what on the console is real and for show. Anyways, after wasting time installing and uninstalling batteries, I charged the console overnight. I had a lot of issues getting batteries into the wireless controller. I ended up snapping some of the corner edges due to the plastic that appears to be weaker than the original NES controller plastic. Then I had trouble trying to turn on the console. Was the knob real? Well it turns out it was. To my surprise, this is actually a pretty cool console. The sound works and the wireless controller works well. Not sure how long the 2 x AAA batteries will last in the controller, but this overall product satisfied my nostalgia cravings. For long-term use, definitely get a small CRT TV and connect the included cables into that so you can actually see what you are doing. Overall, a great concept that I wish had better instructions and better parts. ... show more
