    • A sturdy retractable leash that doesn't snag or fray, and it includes a quick release collar!
After having wasted my money on 'tape' retractable leashes that snag, fray, and are super lightweight and fragile, I finally found a great, sturdy retractable leash that doesn't snag, fray, or rip! I am delighted with the fabulous quality and 26' long retractable leash. Also included in the box was a light weight, sturdy, quick release collar that I can just snap on and off my shih-tzu for walks! Also, there is sturdy, non-fraying 2' foot long at the en which connects to the collar that prevents rope burns if the leash goes around a person's leg or ankle. This is a well-conceived, engineered, and durable product that I expect will last for years. The crappy tape/ribbon leashes only last a few months as they get caught on corners, car bumpers, and railings which cause them to fray, and then rip, and prevents the leash from retracting.     • Good, except for the auto-locking button

So this is a good, solid leash with a great long length. The only issue for me is that when you push the button down to stop the leash from being able to be pulled longer, it automatically engages the locking mechanism. I use the button to let my dogs know that they are as far away as they should get from me, and to encourage them to return (I have deaf senior dogs). The fact that every time I push the button and give a little tug to get them turned the right direction, the leash locks and goes limp, allowing said dog to stop any progress they were making toward me and again head to the end of the line. It drives me crazy- push button and give little tug, then unlock the lock and have the leash go "zip" and go back to retracting, thus scaring the elderly dog. Push the button again and give a little pull to let him know to come back, and again it locks, unlocking it scares him and we do this over and over. I don't have two hands to manage the dang leash and I can not imagine why this design decision was made when there already is a locking option that is easy to engage with your thumb after pushing down the button. ... show more

My father loves that even though Sally doesn't pull, she is true beagle and lets her nose lead her on a sniffari which tends to make her getting the leash wrapped around her legs and the leash is easy to untangle. I have used retractable leashes for years. In the past I have have a 125 pound dane, I husky that pulled constantly and never had a break in the line. I now have a yellow lab that has never pulled the leash. the other one was getting old so i bought this one as a Christmas present for him. Our 1st walk the ribbon broke. I tide it up t get him home and the very next morning it happened again. Again I tided it up because it was Christmas day and had no options. On the way home the ribbon broke in yet another spot. I live in a busy area, thank God he is a great dog and stayed with me. Any average animal would have wondered and been killed in traffic. Animal lovers beware! But by the Grace of God Jack is safe. I prefer these corded leashes. They seem to move smoothly and don’t get tangled. This one is nice and long too! It’s heavier than others I’ve had but not in a bad way. The stop trigger works easily. Probably will be easier for my 8 year old that the old slide up and down one we had. Overall I really like it. Great value!
