  • Revolutionary new design makes the cane an extension of your arm
As a user of three canes already, of two different designs, I was not expecting anything radically different-but ohh I was very wrong. With this strangely shaped cane, when you grip the horizontal handle, about where a regular cane would have a handle, with the end of the topmost curve facing forward, the upper curve is very tightly bound to the back middle of your forearm just by the force of your grip on the horizontal handle. While this may sound kind of complicated and weird, think of it this way: it improves your control of the cane in the same way that using two hands to control a baseball bat is much better than if you use only one hand to swing the bat. In the same way as a cheek weld improves your control of a rifle in that you now have two points of contact on the stock-your hand and your cheek. Here you have two points of contact on the cane both with one arm- your hand/wrist and your forearm. This works the same with both the right and the left arm. In my formally favorite cane, as in all canes of conventional design, all the stress is on your hand and wrist to control it and move the cane forward. In this radical design it feels like the cane is an extension of your arm. This is slightly heavier than my other canes but I gladly accept the slight increase in weight for the much much greater control. And like two of my current canes this one has the same four toed bottom which allows it to easily stand alone. But if you need to, you can also hook the top curve over a high backed chair, etc. The handle has nice foam padding all around and the height is adjustable in one inch increments. And like two of my canes you can grip it in two places to help you stand up from a seated position. Now if it had a built-in flashlight it would be perfect. I know that some of my fellow older geezers carry a Hickory or Oak traditional design cane in case they need to use it to defend themselves but this being lightweight but very strong aluminum and gives so much more control, I think they would find this revolutionary design worth looking into even just from the protection point of view. In conclusion: my new go-to cane; very highly recommend. You have to try it to believe/experience the remarkable difference. ... show more

  • This cane is so much better than I expected-stability and control-thumbs up!
I'm in a wheelchair, and yet I try to drag myself around in my bedroom using a walker. I have a cane, but both it and I are very unstable. After seeing this cane advertised, I was very intrigued by the portability, the design, and the stability that the device appeared to provide. Upon delivery and receipt, it took +/- a minute to unpackage and assemble the cane, and get it fitted to my appropriate height. I immediately noticed how wide the rubber foot was, which enabled it to stand upright on its own, and how balanced it felt in my hand. I am right hand dominant and this just fit perfectly into my hand and around my arm. Regardless of the challenge I have moving my legs, I was able to support myself with this cane, and then also with my left hand and arm on the counter or other stationary object in my room. I like how I can keep my arm close to my side, and the shape of the cane doesn't impact that in any way. I would like to see that some kind of strap was in place to help secure my forearm from separating from it when I trying to move/walk. That is a suggestion, though, and not a deficiency or flaw in the product. I did not find any manufacturing defects or QC misses. The one item that could use some attention, though, is the bottom plastic nut that helps lock in the height or length of the cane. I have securely tightened it, but I feel it requires some re-tightening after every couple of uses. It is not sloppy loose, but enough that I can feel a little slippage, hence the drop in one star. I do love this cane, though, and would be more than happy to have another, for my left hand and arm, and encourage everyone in need of a supportive mobility aid to consider this, especially in lieu of crutches. ... show more

  • Amazing!
If you have a loved one that is fighting back against any kind of a traditional cane and bristle at the thought of a walker, this is a perfect compromise. I have an elderly father who has recently started to have significant issues with balance. He's nearly 89 years old and I have gotten him in the last five or so years a couple of different canes, none of which he's been willing to use. He's at the point where he literally could use a walker sometimes, and his balance is getting to the point that in the right combination of bad circumstances he'll probably take a fall. I was very concerned he wouldn't like this, but I was totally wrong! He loves the stability he has with the portion that swings back around the forearm and kind of locks the cane in place. It is also particularly stable because of the very well made in engineered wide foot this cane has. As a matter of fact, it stands up on its own without any trouble because of the four points of that foot. That also is impressive to him... and it's a good hybrid to make him feel like he's using a cane but he has the stability of something in between a traditional cane and a walker. I's just what he needed. The pictures on Amazon are spot on, and you have some pretty good adjustability in the height of the cane to the individuals needs. I would guess it would work for people even close to 5 ft tall and over without any trouble. My dad has not been comfortable using it to pull himself up from sitting position as some of the photos show here on Amazon, but otherwise this cane has been a game changer for him and he's now using it all the time. I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Helpful Walking Cane
This is a lightweight, adjustable height cane that gives a bit more support than a regular cane. It lets you leverage your arm instead of just using your wrist. The cane is in two pieces and just clicks together. The height is equally easy to adjust with just a click. Very comfortable. Because of the one-click adjustments, it does give some mild clicking sound. My wife thinks that it is a negative. I think it's fine. ;) ... show more
