Appears to be quality radios with easy to use functions. Display is very easy to read and use. Sound quality is good and like the flashlight on walkie Talkie to be able to use if needed. Has good surdy antennas along with belt clips. Unsure of actual quality of use,range or battery life because haven’t got to use them as of this review

We purchased 4 units for about $42 / piece including sales tax in November 2023; thought that it might be useful to have some backup communication devices for the neighborhood. We also thought it might be useful (and fun) to communicate while walking the dog or talking with our kids 3/4 mile down the road without going through a cell phone. Assembly was easy, the first full charge took just a couple of hours. In our area, we found that the units had an effective range of around 3 miles - with a significant deterioration in quality of transmission beginning as soon as 2.75 miles, but not always. At the maximum distance, we were able to communicate between our house and a take-out stand roughly 3.25 miles away with slightly rising elevation in between .. maybe 30-40 rise on one side and an eventual 40-50' drop to the fast food place - with forests, homes and a high school in between .. this took place late at night with less traffic in the area. This set transmits longer and clearer than any set we had previously owned (from many years ago).

We are a HUGE apartment complex management team and we are still under active construction. We performed a clarity test at the center of the property being the base point we had someone hold a radio while my technician and myself went to all edges of the property line and into the furthest buildings and apartments from eachother. There are 5 apartment buildings, each one with about 15 units on each floor, and we found 0 blank zones. About a mile down the road is a Walmart. I was talking to my team from inside the Walmart to our active construction/half occupied apartment complex with the radio at about 40-50% clarity. I bought this for emergency communications but they’re so darn good we all just have been using them every day.

This is an edited review. I initially provided a review that the original shipment was only 1 item, not 4 and that the shipment was replaced, but the 30 day return ran from the original date and there would be no warranty or return now. I found later that there was a problem with the battery chargers not charging properly and noted my dismay. I have since been able to correct the problem so I am amending my review. These items do seem to work, albeit finicky with the chargers. Not a lot of features compared to other GMRS. No scanning, no weather channel, supposed to allow private channels but no documentation as to how to do that. Just a basic radio.
