I bought this set once before. The molds are fantastic! They were easy to release and easy to put back into shape. The board is a little thinner than I'd like, but if done right and I take my time, I'm able to do layers. I'm happy with my purchase.

What I like is how the chess board came out and checker pieces. What I didn't like is the molds for chess pieces kept breaking while talking out of molds.

I have purchased this mold twice now. The first time my yellow stuck to the mold and it was destroyed. The second time it came out perfectly. At $20 a piece and the common description of stuck resin, the value for the product is not there if it’s only good for one time. Even on the second one some of the sides caught but small enough pieces I can sand down in future boards. Chess pieces are great just make sure to give a good massage to each piece to get out any air bubbles. Ordered two more on expectations of my current one ripping again. Wish there was something studier but have yet to find something. Some pieces are crooked as well but have been able to sand down base with no problem to even them out.

nice set of molds to make the chess pieces. you do have to be really careful to get all the bubbles out, especially with the top of the bishop and rook. watch for bubbles with the checkers and board molds too. some of the chess molds were not fully round at the bottom, (probably due to just the way any mold would warp due to it laying on its side) but its not really noticeable in the final product. it was a pain in the butt to remove the molds when it was done, especially the king. work slowly and get someone with smaller fingers to help! 1 cup of epoxy was enough to fill one color of the chess pieces, the checkers pieces, and just enough to fill a thin layer of color for the board. maybe make a little bit over 1 cup of epoxy resin, just to thicken the color of the squares on the board. 2 more cups of clear epoxy resin was enough to finish the board, so you'll need a little over 4 cups total to complete a set of chess and checkers pieces, plus a board. my daughter can't wait to make another set!

I purchased the 16 piece set. The pieces are matte. They are not shiny like the board. Which I figured because before I poured them, I noticed the inside of the mode are not shiny. Also, on the set that I bought, it is hard to get the pieces out of the mold often times they break. that part is probably a trial error. I will try that again. Overall, ok set but they are not shiny like I wanted them to be so if that’s what you want you too maybe try a different supplier. Maybe the other options have shiny pieces but I don’t know. I can’t see anything of that verbiage in the description.

The quality and detail of these models are superb, the fact you can make a complete set in one pour is very convenient. Only issue that we have had is the pawn models are super tight and we have pop the head off a pawn or two demolding the piece but was very easy to glue back on and you can't even tell it happened. Wish all the molds we had where of this quality

Honestly the best part of this set is the chess piece holders. The board mold is very shallow and the separators are very small. But my worst complaint is the chess piece molds, these are very hard to demold, my fingers still hurt from trying to pry the mold off. It was very frustrating and was absolutely NOT a fun experience. I almost wanted to just cut them out. I was also disappointed that the pieces all came out with matte finishes and not shiny. The board itself was shiny though. Unfortunately I cannot return it because I marked the chess board squares. I need to find a different set fast though! Would not buy again.
