I've had this online for about 5 months now. I was replacing a failed PoE camera - from an 'unknown' supplier. I already had a PoE switch and the cable run - it was just replacing the old camera with the new one. The new camera mounting holes were in a slightly different location than the old one - but as it turned out it was close enough to not create any goofy looking extra mounting hole. The instructions were very clear - the template made it easy to mark where the new holes would be. Network setup was also quite easy. I did install the phone app, but never really needed it since the camera serves a web page - where I could do the setup I needed. Rather than using the phone and the cloud interface, this camera is monitored by a Synology Server - Surveillance Station, so I can't provide much detail for the native application. It is also picked up by Home Assistant - an open-source home automation package. This even provides more interface options for controlling the camera. Camera quality is great, and the sound quality is fine. Night vision on any of the cameras I've used seems never to be quite as good as "advertised", but it is decent enough for the area of interest. The title says it all. These are the best non-PTZ cameras offered by Reolink as of the end of 2023. The 4K picture quality is excellent. The night vision is exceptional (even with the IR illuminators disabled.) If you need an outdoor camera, and have to have this within reach of the ground you should be looking at these. These do require POE but, POE switches are relatively inexpensive. They integrate flawlessly into the Reolink ecosystem. They do have zoom but this is a dead center zoom (fixed position) so it's more or less to limit the field of view of your preferred target. I'm very happy with these and will buy again. ... show more

    • A pain to install, awful IR night vision

I really wanted to like this camera. I had a hard time installing because getting the camera angle right requires you to pop off the dome lid and manually adjust the camera. I understand that with the vandal proof design, it just has to be that way without motorized PTZ. Fair enough. The real issue for me, is that in my application, I require IR night vision. And if you are someone who intends to run the camera on IR mode at night, this camera should be excluded from your selection. The IR beams hit the plastic dome and bounce right back to the lens causing massive glare and obstructs the night vision in a way that can not be forgiven. For me, the issue made the night vision absolutely useless. If you plan to run color mode at night, this camera will do just fine. But do not consider this at all if you intend to use IR. I returned this and purchased the RLC 833a instead, an absolutely superior camera with zoom, just is not vandal proof. ... show more

We have one of these installed within an enclosure, and with the dome removed because it would not fit the exiting location. It is fed POE from about 300 feet and it has been operating for over a year without any problems. The enclosure does not allow for the built-in IR LEDs to shine out, and the area has no inherent lighting, so night vision is limited.     • Sub stream only 0.2 MP and 15 FPS max

Disappointed this 4K camera that now allows a 1x I-frame and 25 FPS doesn’t have a 1 or 0.5 MP substream that can run at 25 FPS. If you plan to use with Blue Iris / Deepstack you’ll have to just use the main stream for AI identification to work. At 8 MP your storage will fill up faster than you probably want. That said, the camera itself is nice enough at this price point. I’m not a fan of the spotlight and night color so I just run IR black and white at night. No glare/bloom, it looks great. Zoom and focus is good. Note there is no pan tilt on this model, though not expected at this price. No firmware update available yet. No side wall mount available yet. The one for the 842A doesn’t fit. That camera base is round. This one is triangular. Maybe they will fix these issues in the future? There is no support section for this camera yet. Pros—- Crystal clear picture Zoom is a great feature to see exactly what you’re interested in Tracking works very good (I use blue iris) works perfectly with ONVIF Set up with Reolink app is a snap GREAT value GREAT VALUE!!! Support is very quick— even though it is only by email Cons You will need to update firmware first thing ( must email support to get latest version) To set up ONVIF (blue iris) you have to read and follow the instructions exactly (not easy for me) ... show more
