I had the original acquire from many years ago. I saw this online and purchased the new version. Like this version better it seems to attract a younger crowd. It’s a hotel game you’re acquiring other property. Good game for kids to teach them about investment in a fun way Five stars for sure

My husband's family has been playing this game for years. We all enjoy it and it's always a highlight of family gatherings. We weren't able to track down an old version of the game so we could have our own set so I was thrilled to see this one has come out. It is a superior quality and is just a really nice looking game. The pieces feel really nice and sleek. My teenagers love this game so it looks like Acquire will have a third generation of players in the family! ... show more

This game rocks!!! I got it for an activity on Thanksgiving with my teens and adult children. It's just a great game. It mixes strategy and luck. My kids loved it so much they requested we play again when they came home for Christmas. They commented on how they love that you really don't know who's winning for sure until the very end. It's fast paced and only lasts between 40-90 minutes. This game is way better than Monopoly. ... show more

I grew up playing this game and I love it! It’s a mix of Monopoly and Risk, but in half the time! I’ve only played the original way, but I look forward to getting the family together to play the Tycoon Version.

I clearly remember being on vacation at a beach house with my ex-fiancé in the late 90’s when her Mom’s boyfriend brought this out one night to play. Up until then I had only played mass market games, but lots of them and as much as I could. This was different enough make me a go “wow” when we finished playing. I absolutely loved it. And it opened up parts of synapses I didn’t know existed. Ten or so years later I bought Agricola and slowly began my journey into the modern Tabletop hobby. Cut to today and I have hundreds of board games. During these years I thought back to Aquire and wondered why I didn’t have it in my collection. Now I finally do, and after playing again last week I’m happy to report it’s still a terrific game even after playing so many newer hobby board games. It has held up as a great abstract tactical game after all these years. I would happily play it any time it’s offered. This version is nice but I would have changed the paper money to cardstock and maybe some outside-the-box ideas to make it look and feel more modern. It comes with these super tiny orange plastic flags that I don’t understand the point of. I’m guessing to denote a hotel chain is unable to be merged anymore? I didn’t use them and we didn’t need them. A bigger board and some stands (or player screens) for the tiles would have been nicer. But my gripes are only with the components. As for Gameplay, it’s a classic that’s easy to learn but challenging and fun to play. There is some luck of the draw situations but, as with most games, it’s a bit of luck that builds excitement and keeps you wanting to come back to it. I recommend to every gamer to give this one a try if you’ve never played. There’s not going to be a “wow” moment after playing most modern games but i doubt it will disappoint you as far as a good time goes. For a game that’s going on 60 years old, designer Syd Sackson created something that still holds up to modern ideas of what games are capable of and that’s an amazing achievement. ... show more
