I took hormone replacement for 5 years which worked fantastic for my hot flashes and other menopause symptoms but decided to stop taking them due to a very high incidence of breast cancer in my family. I am a nurse practitioner student and thought I would try these Remifemin products because there is at least a very small amount of evidence that they are helpful (many herbal products have none!) I was using the day time product and sometimes the night time one too. My hot flashes and night sweats decreased noticeably, although they did not disappear completely like they did while taking estrogen/progesterone. I was content to continue taking them until I had some routine blood work done and found out my liver enzymes were elevated (meaning something was damaging my liver). I am not overweight, don't drink, and was taking no other medications or supplements. My hepatitis panel was negative - there was nothing else that would have been causing this. I stopped taking Remifemin immediately and had my labs rechecked 6 weeks later and they had returned to normal. As it turns out, there are many documented cases of Black Cohosh (the active ingredient in Remifemin) causing liver toxicity. We like to think that "natural" products are harmless & without risks, but that is simply not the case. If you are going to take this product on a regular basis (or any herbal product), I strongly suggest you have your liver enzymes checked after a month to make sure you are not damaging your liver. ... show more

    • MENOPAUSAL RELIEF - Thank You Jesussss!
I've been using REMIFEMIN over 5 years. Excellent relief from mood swings, night sweats and brain fog. It took about 2 weeks for me to notice an improvement. I thought I was losing my mind lol but hormonal imbalances will do that to you. Only 2 simple Ingredients ginger and black cohosh. From my research, you should only take black cohosh for 6 months at a time. I think the black cohosh dose is really low in this product. It states take 2 pills a day. I only take one in the morning. I do skip a few doses during the month. If you choose to take 2 a day, I would recommend stop taking them after 6 months and start back on them at your discretion. When I don't take a remifemin, I can definitely feel the anxiety creeping in to set off a crying spell. Lol. I haven't experienced any side effects at all but everybody's system is different. I don't think they help with my menopausal sleeplessness. My OBGYN recommended Thorne brand Magnesium that has been a LIFE SAVER. No hangover when I wake up in the morning. I sleep through the night no tossing and turning. I open a Thorne magnesium capsule and mix in warm water 2 hours before bed and I literally sleep like a baby. I'm 61 and menopausal but so grateful to have found both these products on Amazon. No more sleepless nights and thanks to Remifemin, I feel more balanced during the day. ... show more

    • This has changed my life!
This works like a charm! Note that you have to take it for a month before you start noticing benefits, and it doesn't completely eliminate hot flashes, but dramatically reduces the number of them and their intensity. My mother was on estrogen during her menopausal years, and then developed breast cancer. My GYN said I was therefore not a candidate for estrogen, so recommended black cohosh for my hot flashes - and this brand specifically. She said it is a German product and they have better quality control with their herbal supplements compared to the U.S. I used to have 2-3 hot flashes an hour, and each lasted 5 minutes. I was dying! They constantly interrupted my day and it is difficult to look and act professionally when you are sweating and stripping down every few minutes. Now I only have 4-5 hot flashes a DAY, and they are all mild and last 30 seconds or so. Take one pill in the morning and one at night. ... show more

When I hit perimenopause I honestly thought I might be losing my mind. The mood swings were totally uncontrollable, I couldn't think, couldn't concentrate, couldn't sleep, the hot flashes weren't flashes, they were a constant puddle of sweating mess, my sex drive went in the toilet because I felt awful all the time; if there was a symptom I pretty much had it.
