This dress definitely had a strong smell when I first unwrapped it, and was very wrinkled. The wrinkles came out quickly with the use of a handheld steamer, and the smell also disappeared quickly. Honestly, great value for the price. This dress is comfortable and cute, albeit a bit plain and simple.

The color was perfect for me and the dress is well made,comfortable,and light weight (no need of a slip,though). Very nice dress! This Regency Dresses for Women gown, with the satin sash and puff sleeves, unfortunately didn’t work for me. The cut felt a bit strange — it fit well in the waist and hips, but the bust area was off and didn’t sit right. Because of the fit issues, I didn’t end up keeping it. The dress was attractive and appeared to be well-made. However, it had clearly been worn before and smelled of perspiration. I'd hoped to wear the item to a Regency-themed event, but had to wear something else. I had ordered the blue version - the fabric seemed to be of good quality (I did not try it on, due to the above concern). It looked similar to the image on the listing, and had the appropriate "Regency" look I wanted. If you're considering ordering this dress, I'd recommend ordering it well in advance in case the problem I encountered happens. Others have mentioned the same concern about odor, and had I ordered it earlier, I could have requested a return and ordered a substitute in time for the event. ... show more

I bought two of these Regency styled dresses to fit two very petite young women for a historical reenactment. As a group of novice sewers, we were having trouble figuring out how to reduce down patterns to fit their under 4 ft frames, on a quickly shrinking timeline, and were in desperate need of something that would work fast. These fit the bill and the bodies! The costumes came together decently with this as the main visual piece. Since it was an outdoor fall reenactment near cooking fires, they were strictly warned to avoid close proximity to fires and embers, since the material is flammable. The material was thin on these for cold days, but layers of shawl, apron, petticoat and wool stockings helped make up for that. Sleeve elastics were removed and rehemmed to make the sleeves more comfortable, and the skirt hemline altered on the shorter one. These costumes have since been replaced with home sewn, cotton replacements that are safer around the fires. However, these were a good budget friendly kickstart to their passion for historical reenactment. ... show more

I bought this dress to wear to the 20th anniversary screening of Pride and Prejudice. It was a last minute backup (thanks prime shipping) that I adored more than I thought I would! Pros: - The color is quite nice. Definitely olive green as pictured - The material is lightweight but not see thru. You can’t even tell I’m wearing black leggings underneath - The silhouette of this dress is very flattering - The versatility - you can dress it down or up with gloves and jewelry - The button closure in the back - no crappy/broken zippers and makes it feel more period accurate Cons: - The sizing, especially in the chest area. My usual size is Small or Medium. I got a Small and honesty I could’ve used an Extra Small option. I could easily step into the dress with the buttons closed. The bust was too big; the shoulders and neckline kept slipping - The packaging. The dress comes vacuum formed, sitting like that for who knows how long. I had to steam this dress THREE TIMES. Yes you can wear it out of the bag, but it will be super wrinkly - The ribbon is not as thick as the picture and is also a bit wrinkled. I did like the ribbon color though For reference I’m 4’11 and this dress could use a hem, but I wasn’t tripping over the skirt. If you can do some light alterations on this dress, especially for the sizing issue, go for it. Overall I give this dress 4/5 stars. The packaging is not really the fault of the dress, LOL. I saw someone use dye for the white version of this dress and I may just do that for a fun DIY project. ... show more
