Didn't want to put in a bulky brake controller hanging from the dash. This was the only controller that offered a clean OEM look without requiring a lot of space to install. On the Rubicon it was really hard to find a place to install where it was easy to reach will driving. Ended up in the center console. There is a wire clipped underneath where it is installed, but I was able to push it out of the clip to make room. Another reviewer recommended practicing on Tupperware to get the holes just right - that is a BRILLIANT idea, thank you. Took a few tries to get it right, but better than screwing it up when drilling our dash. The module is mounted directly under the steering wheel behind that panel you can pull off easily. See learning took few minutes driving around the block. Hooked up my trailer and it immediately worked with no issues. Easy to adjust and use. Also, placed my biggest double wall cup in the holder and you can see there is still lots of space to reach it and it doesn't touch the cup. Great controller and looks really clean when installed.

This brake controller is awesome. It is easy to use, install and simply works. My old controller seemed to keep the brakes on my trailer locked, this one I can hardly tell I am towing. Once you get it set, it treats your tow vehicle and trailer as one. I love this unit and will continue to recommend this to others who need a top notch low cost brake controller. REDARC, job well done !!!!! UPDATE: We have had this controller for a little while now and have had no issues at all. We had one emergency braking situation and she handled like a dream as if the trailer was not even part of the vehicle. I did and still HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CONTROLLER!!! Well done REDARC.

I have a 2016 Chevy Colorado. If you've seen the factory controller for the Colorado's you know that it definitely fits in with the interior of the vehicle. I wanted something that was slim and didn't look like a cut-rate radar detector just waiting to slam into my shins every time I got into my truck. This controller was great for that... It's tiny, and mean TINY... the only thing that sticks out is the little knob. It took about 20 minutes or so of driving my trailer around for it to get the "learning" part out of the way... I adjusted the knob and I was ready to go. It works well, looks great, you can barely see it, and you can hardly tell that it's even there. It's a little on the expensive side, but there's really nothing else like it on the market. Additionally, if someone from REDARC reads this review... I think it would be great to incorporate extra knobs modeled to look like knobs from different car brands, GM, Ford, Subaru, etc... and that's not even a complaint... I just don't have any complaints, thus... 5 stars.

My 19 Ranger came "prepped" for trailer brakes but no controller. This item was recommended a lot (and is included in a later-released factory kit). The wires in the truck were a little short and hard to connect to the harness included, but eventually got it done. Drilled a hole in the center console for the control knob (like many other users who installed the same kit). Zip-tied the control box to a metal brace under the dash. The need to plug in trailer brakes has so far not come up (towing only my light trailers so far, but one pushes me around a little and I keep thinking I should install hubs with brakes) I only nicked a star because I haven't needed it yet and can't really comment or function, etc. Install was simple, it seems like a well-engineered product with good instructions. Maybe some day I'll get to test it.

I have this brake controller installed in my 2017 Tacoma. I also purchased the tekumsah brake controller wiring harness which I had to cut the wires and splice the two harnesses together which is why it loses a star for installation. But honestly, the wire colors all match up and the only cutting splicing you have to do is in the harnesses not in the truck which is the most important for me. Because they designed the dial to be separate from the main module it can be placed up in the dash out of the way. The small, well designed control knob makes the installation look like it came with the truck from the factory. I also purchased a insert for the little cubby which was made for this truck and this brake controller which came out incredible and gave me two more switch slots! The controller is easy to dial in so much that you forget you have a trailer behind you when braking. I wouldn’t buy any other product in the future!

*UPDATE AFTER INSTALL AT BOTTOM* I have not installed the controller yet. However, I will say. Out of the box I am impressed. The controller feels like a quality product. The product description does not do a good enough job of showing just how compact, well thought out and not cheap, for lack of a better term, the control knob is. On first sight. It is leaps and bounds ahead of the old knee knocker brake controllers. Can't wait to install it and update after this weekend. *UPDATE* Unit installed and works perfectly. The super slim button is great. The wire harness is heavy gauge and is made of quality wire. It's truly plug and play. It auto calibrated. I installed it. Connected my trailer and I was in the road with confidence. Love it.

The mounting is fantastic for a low visibility install second only to the Prodigy RF, which has basically no presence in the tow vehicle. Otherwise the Redarc has performed flawlessly on our Subaru Ascent with our Jayco Jayflight 22bhm. The dial is easy to adjust and manually activate the trailer brakes from. The ring light is also nicely visible from the drivers seat both when it is connected and the brakes are activated. The mounting is just superb, I can't imagine anyone choosing a bulky controller mounted to their dash or knee panel over this.
