    • Works great, but watch your back!
If you have back issues, you're going to want help slipping this thing on and off, or maybe even someone to help you carry it, etc. I think at my next use, I'm going to strap it to my dolly and wheel it around the yard. That aside, there is probably nothing more bad a$$ than walking around your yard, burning your weeds into oblivion! I felt like the envy of my neighbors, and once you get the swing of this thing , you truly do destroy the weeds down to the root AND it seems like I'm getting whole root systems. I cleared our front walk the first week I had this, and we haven't seen a single weed back there yet. Some areas where its more grass than weeds can be hard to kill, but we're still trying! Two pointers: If it's a hot day out, you are going to sweat badly using this thing. I mean, it puts off serious heat. But, you're going to have to shower after you use it anyway, because you'll smell like propane. And second, people here correctly point out that you either want to wait until a light drizzle and use this in the rain, OR have someone follow you with a hose. I fire this puppy up and have my son follow me around with a hose. I light up the weeds, we give them a minute to burn, then he sprays a little water. It's been really dry here lately, so I don't want to light my lawn on fire! I haven't been brave enough to use this near my siding yet, I'm still trying to get my aim down pat. ... show more

    • Torch cannot be attached to the tank - Addendum: only by specialist
I did not have the opportunity to try this tool thus far, though I had the tank filled with gas three weeks ago. Today I wanted to do some work with it, and the torch cannot be attached to the tank - it simply cannot be screwed in, the rotating ring won't fit the tank outlet! For $260 + what I paid for filling the tank, it was quite a disappointment! And of course, Flame Engineering's phone is on answering machine, who knows when they get back to me. Follow-up on Dec. 23: I took it to a repair shop, and there they managed to screw in the torch. Thus I increased the number of stars to 3, but, because of the time involved, I was not able to effectively work with the tool yet. If contented, I will increase the number of stars later. Added Jan.26, 2020: Works reasonably well, overall satisfied with it, though the tank runs empty quite fast. ... show more

    • Great item and does what it says
Bought this to melt snow around my car and the sidewalks. Easiest thing to do is melt the stuff a bit, then shovel the slop. Re-run the dragon and it will finish the job. Disadvantage is depending on the size of the job, you may need to purchase and additional tank as a backup.

Guys and gals, keep telling yourself that no matter how grand or powerful you might feel the first time you zorch a buncha weeds or vaporize the noxious undergrowth from beneath your favorite stand of trees with your brand new "flamethrower"... errrr... I mean, "vapor torch"... THIS IS NOT A TOY! That's what I keep telling myself, anyway. ;) Instructions: 1. Read the instructions. Let me put that another way: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! 2. Open the valve on the propane tank. 3. Open the the adjustable needle valve a little bit. A very little bit will do. Really. 4. Use the included spark lighter to ignite the pilot light. 5. Point the wand in a safe direction and squeeze the squeeze valve. 6. Avoid the temptation to imagine that you're Zeus zapping a jet of thick, blue flame down on the bad vegetables. :) Seriously, I recommend this product, particularly if you have a couple of acres + property that needs weeding and clearing all the time. A real labor-saver. Seriously, this products works. [Especially like the backpack setup.] ... show more

    • Weed Dragon Back Pack Propane Vapor torch
The Back Pack is only made for tall people, and I am short. It hit my backbone and I just couldn't use it. Also It would be too heavy. I have since purchased the same torch kit and am using my own Propane tank with my own dolly and it works great.

    • Didn’t notice damage until too late!
Purchased as a Mother’s Day gift. Product arrived end of April. Didn’t open until early June, excited to rid the rock bed from weeds. Noticed the needle valve adjustable pilot valve was damaged. Called the manufacturer and was told I have to work with Amazon. Amazon returns window is closed. So now I’m stuck with defective product. Buyer beware I suppose. ... show more

The weed dragon really works as advertised and saves a LOT of back breaking labor, not to mention the avoidance of harsh chemicals! However, everyone who buys this tool must be aware of just how potentially dangerous it is. If you attempt to flame weed in any area where there are dry leaves, mulch, brush or worse - pine needles - you will very likely set these things ablaze. If you are prepared to put these little fires out, you'll be fine. I was flame weeding a brick walkway that had dwarf pines planted in an adjacent planter and caused an inadvertant fire right beside my house. BE CAREFUL!!! ... show more
