I’d say the distance is about 1-2 feet in front of it and anytime there’s a change in lights flickering on/to/off and vise-versa. I use the dim setting for the sides of my bed so I and anyone in the house can have an immuninated pathway when navigating the darkness; a simply MUST if you lose your phone often haha 😆 【 POSITIONING ¿🙅🏻♀️🙆🏻♂️? 】= 3 Methods of Placement: (1: ROPE/TASSLE) The kit comes with a tassle to rope the kitty on a hook or something; this was maybe one of my only negative critiques as the rope and premade notch in the kitty light are like two foreign bodies, but I just ended up using tape to keep it sealed in before tossing all of that and either using the (2: STANDING FOOT), a piece of plastic that fits like a Lego piece at the bottom of the rounded Kitty, this creating a flat, standing base, or (3: MAGNETIC PLATE) so the Kitty itself is the magnetic part and it comes with circular metal plates for you to place for it to attach into. Since I use my phone in the bath room and already installed one of those heavy duty car magnets meant to hold your phone during a car ride, I like being able to place it multiple places. It also clings (albeit not fool-proof magnetism, I’d say will meet 80% of your needs depending on the components of the metal surface you’re attempting to cling it onto*) to any OTHER metal surface, so you’re not fenced in and forced to use just the tiny cute metal plates with reflective surface. I use this nightlight for my big dog proof cat feeder. It has motion detection. Low and high light settings. It can be on a stand, magnetic attachment, or hang from the included mini lanyard. When it's charging, its low blue to show charging. When the blue light goes off, the unit is fully charged. Can be set to On, Off, or Auto. Great product for the price. I like it because it's so bright and the motion sensor works great. It only stays charged one day for me, though, even on 'auto' to only activate when motion is detected. Maybe mine is defective. Otherwise I think it's great. Tiny, but very bright.

We cared for my daughter’s kitten and put her litter box in the mud room but it didn’t have an outlet. We didn’t want to keep the light on or install and auto light. This little rechargeable light is exactly what we needed! It’s cute and and the kitten was curious about it. I think the light was kind of cool white. The charge lasts for a few days, but not sure. I think I charged it once a week when I remembered. It has a tiny switch with couple settings to leave it on or motion detect. The magnetic mount didn’t really stick to the wall. It has a tiny removable stand that’s ok. I just put it in a corner against the baseboard. My daughter took the kitten, new litter box, and light when she moved. I liked it so much, I would and might buy again, maybe as a personal or travel night-light. ... show more

More for babies than my elderly mother. Who for some reason I thought might like a cow nightlight. She likes cows. Update. I go to the box this came in to find that I had never received a charger for it. I did contact the seller. Maybe they don’t read customer emails everyday, but I am tired of waiting to hear back. I’m not happy AT ALL that I now have a useless piece of junk plastic that had only one job, which is to light up when I walk in the door. I , when I bought aforementioned junk, can’t recharge the stupid thing because there’s apparently nobody making sure all the parts are in the box. The box being what I PAID FOR are not there. How typical? I will pay more money to another business for receiving all the parts that are paid for. I know mistakes do happen.
