Most tools that you normally get from a set tend to be cheaply made and don't feel great. This, however, was way better than I thought it would be. This comes with stencils which I didn't realize when I made the purchase and has a diagram of how to use the tools on the pattern. I already have about 40 hours worth of experience so I had a pretty good and basic idea of how these tools should be used. It does not come with a mallet, so make sure to get a really good one. Excellent tools. Good quality, and the bevels are great. They are why I purchased this set, and I was not disappointed. If you're new and bought a cheap starter kit, definitely pick these up as well. They're well worth it.

Awesome set of tool for the price. They make great impressions that will help newer hobbyists enjoy the craft more. The cheaper sets will leave you feeling underwhelmed with what you accomplish. Buying the set each tool comes out to a little over $7 ( if you get it at the right time). A bit over $8 a tool regularly. Priced separately you’d spend $9-$10 each. Fair warning: these two sets, #1 and #2 leather carving sets, are NOT what you think; you do not get the tools to do carving. To me, it looks like they threw together the tools in the sets they had a surplus of. If you want to do this, watch videos of how the masters do this, and then buy the tools you need (good ones). These sets are for people who haven't got a clue, but want to do it. I promise you will be very disappointed; I am. ... show more

First off, I am no pro. I bought these awhile ago and they always intimidated me because I didn’t know how to use them. I watched some YouTube videos and they made it look so damn easy! My first attempt was….not good lol. But with practice and patience I am getting better. In my opinion, this is a great starter set and would definitely recommend it. In time, skill will come. Buy some economy veg tan, put some clear masking tape on the back and practice practice practice. I haven’t broken any of them yet but the lifter does suck. Still learning the thumbprint ones but getting there. If I could add one more to this, it would be a medium pear shader. Anyway best of luck and practice and patience will get you to where you want to go! ... show more
