I've been using this Reaction Tackle 7-Piece Fishing Tool Kit for over two months now, primarily while fishing from my kayak, and overall I've been very impressed with it. When I first ordered it, I expected a typical fishing kit where maybe one or two items are useful and the rest end up sitting in a tackle bag forever. That hasn't been the case here. I've found myself regularly using almost everything included. The pliers are smooth, responsive, and do exactly what they're supposed to do. The built-in line cutter works especially well on braided line, which is always a good test. The fillet knife arrived very sharp and has held its edge well. The clips and carabiners have also proven useful for keeping the tools organized and accessible on the kayak. My favorite item in the entire kit, though, is actually the scissors. I keep them attached to my PFD and use them constantly. They make clean cuts through mono, fluorocarbon, and braided line, and they're comfortable to use even with wet hands. If you've spent enough time fishing, you know that a good pair of line scissors somehow disappears exactly when you need it most. I was also pleasantly surprised by the corrosion resistance. After more than two months of regular use around water, I haven't seen any signs of rust on any of the tools. My only real criticism involves the fish lip gripper. It works fine overall, but the gripping surfaces are more aggressive than I personally prefer. Looking at the design, I did wonder whether the jagged edges could potentially be harder on a fish's mouth than necessary. I own a few other fish grippers that secure fish just as effectively with a smoother gripping surface. Everything is very easy to use and nice a light. That concern aside, the overall quality of this kit exceeded my expectations, especially at the current listed price of $29.99. Considering everything that's included, I think it represents a really strong value. Overall, I absolutely recommend it. Whether you're just getting started in fishing or you've been at it for years, there's a good chance you'll find yourself using more of this kit than you initially expected. Also a great gift idea for anyone who loves fishing... I'd sure love getting a sharp looking kit like this.

This 7-piece tool kit from Reaction Tackle comes packaged in a nice box, all ready to be gift-wrapped for any occasion. This is a great assortment of tools for the veteran fisherman or the beginner just starting out. The tools include: A fillet knife, with an overall length of 11.25', a 6.5' cutting edge, a serrated section on the back of the blade for cutting through thicker bones, and a protective sheath. This thing is sharp right out of the box, as you would expect. A floating lip gripper, very handy for handling toothy fish or for the less experienced to maintain a firm hold on fish while handling them without the risk of dropping and injuring the fish. It features easy one-handed operation to open and close and has a loop to hang on a scale. The best feature is that it floats, so many of these end up at the bottom of the lake when releasing fish. Fishing pliers, featuring one-handed lock and unlocking, line cutter, crimper, spit-ring tool, and hook remover. There is also a place to attach a lanyard so it doesn't get lost. Braid scissors, capable of easily and cleanly cutting braid, fluorocarbon, and mono. There is a screwdriver/pry tool, fishing sinker crimper, and a lanyard attachment point. A simple knife sharpener to keep your knives razor sharp and ready to clean your catch. There are two attachment devices: first is just a simple coiled lanyard with a carabiner on one end and a keyring on the other end. The other is probably the best retraceable lanyard I've ever used. It has a nice clip to hook to a belt loop, a heavy-duty split ring to attach a tool, and a really heavy retractable cord. The spring is strong to hold a good-sized tool, like the fishing pliers, in securely in place. I have used other products from Reaction Tackle before, and I'm satisfied with the quality and performance of their products, and these tools are of the same quality. This is a pretty good set of tools at this price point; you could easily spend this much on just a filet knife or fishing pliers. I would recommend this to any beginning fisherman just starting out or the experienced fisherman that just needs some extra gear. It would be a great gift for any fisherman.

picked this kit up to keep in the boat so I would have all the basics in one place, and it covers pretty much everything I normally reach for. The fillet knife came sharp and made clean cuts on a couple of trout, and the included sharpener is a nice extra since it saves packing another tool. The pliers feel solid and worked well for removing hooks, and the floating lip gripper makes handling fish a lot easier without getting a hand full of treble hooks. The braid scissors cut both braided and mono line cleanly, and the retractable lanyard is more useful than I expected. I tend to set tools down and forget where they are, so having them clipped in is a big plus. The knife isn’t as heavy-duty as a premium fillet knife, but for a kit like this it does the job well. Overall, this is a practical set for anglers who want a complete setup without buying each tool separately.

This is an excellent quality 7 piece fishing tool kit from Reaction Tackle. Excellent price for the set given the great quality of each tool. Each piece is very well made with good quality material and they are nice and durable. Has a good weight and feel. These do not look nor feel cheap. The fish grips are easy to hold and use with wet hands as advertised so I'm really pleased with the grip and hold on these. Very nice pair of scissors and multi function plier tool that have a comfortable grip and rugged feel as well. My favorite in this set is the fillet knife. By far the best fillet knife I've gotten in a set or from purchasing individually. Nice comfortable safe handle that is easy to hold and use. The sharpness of this blade is outstanding and it cuts through fish and baits with ease. The easiest to use fillet knife I've ever owned and would purchase this kit again just for the knife. I've used in both fresh and salt water. I've had no issues with any of the tools rusting or becoming hard to use when using while salt water fishing. Each tool is a nice size and everything easily fits into my different size tackle boxes depending on what and where I am fishing. Very impressed and highly recommend this set.

I am a little torn on how to rate this fishing tool kit. I do not want a higher star rating to give the impression that these are premium-quality tools because they are not. At the same time, I do not want to completely dismiss the product because everything included is functional and usable. I could see this being a decent starter set for a kid who is just getting into fishing and wants a collection of tools that feels like their own. For that type of user, it may be a reasonable option before investing in higher-quality gear. The individual tools are a mixed bag. The knife and scissors arrived less sharp than I would have preferred. The fish gripper functions, but it has a lot of play and looseness in its movement. The pliers are probably the most useful tool in the kit, and I like that they include a convenient line-threading feature. However, after using the cutters, the pliers felt somewhat sticky when opening and closing, which makes me question the quality of the steel and overall durability. The included lanyards work well and help keep the tools accessible while fishing. I am also glad the kit includes a knife sharpener because I suspect it will see regular use. My biggest hesitation is that the entire kit feels somewhat disposable. I generally prefer buying tools once and using them for years rather than replacing them after a handful of trips. These tools work, but they do not inspire confidence that they will become long-term pieces of gear. For someone looking for an inexpensive starter kit, that may be acceptable. For more experienced anglers, I suspect most of these tools would eventually be replaced with higher-quality alternatives.

Overall, this is an excellent value set, but allow me to review each item in order: 1. Fillet knife - 4/5 - It is sharp out of the box, though I dont like the saw blade on the back side. The knife is not strong enough to warrant this feature. Additionally, the blade is quite long and tapered backwards like a saber, I prefer a knife that is an inch shorter and more flexible for inshore freshwater fishing. 2. Knife Sharpener - 5/5 - generic keychain ceramic sharpener, works well 3. Fish Gripper - 4.5/5 - Quite larger, the grip has a loop around the handle for hanging from a scale and has "teeth" to lock larger fish in place, though its a little too big for smaller fish like saugers and pickerel. Overall excellent gripper (if it was an inch smaller I think it would be perfect). 4. Pliers - 4/5 - These pliers are quite nice, theyre very thin but super strong. Come with a split ring hook that is actually functional and just a hunk of triangle shaped metal to get in your way. I still prefer pliers without them but they are adequate. The jaws have crimpers but no line cutter. The handle has space for a keychain to be attached. Excellent design feature. 5. Scissors - 5/5 - These are tiny but extremely grippy, theyre slightly serrated too for cutting braid. I love the size and handle shape. 6. Keychain - 5/5 - retractible, and durable carabiner style design. Black for cool aesthetic. The retractible line feels durable and is quite long. 7. Lanyard/Keychain - The lanyard is perfect for the pliers, the cable stretches very far and retains its shape. The cable connection is sleeved to add a little more water resistance, I know this will last a long time. The price of this kit is unbelievable for the quality of items you receive. The only improvement I could make is offer a non split ring hook pliers and a shorter fillet knife (though these are both subjective preferences). 5/5 set.

This is a super thorough kit, and it honestly has everything you could possibly need while out on the water. I’ll admit that looking at the listing, I wasn’t sure what to expect regarding the material thickness, but upon receiving it, I’m confident these tools are built to last. The overall quality of each item really blew me out of the water; as I went through the set, each piece felt higher quality than the last, and I was pleasantly surprised by the heavy-duty construction. Each item was made with thick steel, plastic or both and left me convinced that it would hold up unconditionally. In terms of sharpness, the fillet knife is incredibly keen right out of the box and slices clean through without any hacking, which is a major win for clean processing. The durability is definitely there, from the sturdiness of the pliers to the secure grip on the handles, so you don't have to worry about them slipping or bending under pressure. Size-wise, everything fits beautifully in the hand and isn't too bulky, making the whole setup incredibly easy to maneuver when you're dealing with a slippery catch. At the end of the day, it's a comprehensive collection that comes in a decent carrying case, making it feel like a quintessential setup for any angler. This set is an absolute steal for the price and offers a ton of value for the money, especially considering how inclusive the kit is from start to finish. I have absolutely no complaints and feel like this is a great meeting place between form and function that any fisherman would love to have in their boat.
