Top Amazon Reviews

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Decent review here, sizing is correct, helmet is appropriate for price range
Color: Black
I am an adult male with a 22" (56cm) head, hat size is about 6 3/4". I am near the upper limit for this helmet. If you are 23" this helmet will probably fit a little tight on you, initially. I love this thing. It is exactly what I was looking for. I did NOT want a fiberglass or carbon shelled rigid full-face helmet typical of downhill mtb or bmx track racing helmets. Those were above my price range and they're heavier and clunkier. I'd previously had a 661 Comp helmet, which at about $70 is the cheapest mtb helmet that can be had. That was about 900 grams. This is 590 grams. I use this for skatepark use when I'm on my kick scooter, skateboarding, inline skating, and mountain biking. The 661 helmet, even though it's one of the lightest mtb helmets that can be gotten, was more solid, heavy, and clunky than I wanted. This Razor helmet is the perfect product of being lighter while still offering jaw protection, which any half-helmet, no matter how expensive it is, doesn't offer. I had also previously owned, decades ago, the Troy Lee Edge mtb helmet, which is no longer made, but which served a purpose by being just like this helmet: super light, airy, and all the protection of a typical half-shell with a nominal, lightly functional chin bar. So, yes, it's a cheap plastic chin bar. It does have a minimal amount of closed-cell foam padding on the inside. It is not removable (unlike the Troy Lee Edge and some of the questionable looking Fleabay alternatives). So, you have a choice: want more protection? Spend, at minimum, twice as much to get something heavier, clunkier, and probably less ventilated. This is not the helmet for true downhill racing or big air. If you're going to plant your face into a rock at speed, look elsewhere. But if you just need more protection than a half-helmet without a lot of the inconveniences a full-face brings, then this is one of the only alternatives out there in this price range. Want to spend hundreds for a Met Parachute or a Fox Proframe helmet (two other options with very light, airy designs)? Go ahead! But don't fault this by saying it lacks protection. It is what it is. Further, figure out your sizing, properly, people. There are way too many posters on here complaining about sizing, and it's obvious they have no idea what their or their childrens' head measurements are. Going by the age range is bone-headed, duh. Take a look at any school yearbook or group of kids and you'll easily see that head shapes and sizes are myriad, along with hairstyles, which by themselves greatly affect helmet fit. Get out the sewing tape measure or the string and actually take a head size measurement. Then do your complaining. ... show more

Color: Black
Fits my 8 year old perfectly! And honestly, I've never seen a cooler kid riding his bike than him!

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Chin guard blocks forward vision
Color: Black
The helmet's adjusting straps seem incapable of stopping the chin guard from riding up too high and hindering my son's forward vision. We've tried several different length adjustments and it just won't stay put.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Lightweight Helmet
Color: Black
I am very happy with this helmet. In fact we have ordered a second one for our daughter. This is the lightest full face helmet I could find. It is light, but it is NOT flimsy. The kids actually like wearing it because its comfortable (so they say) and much lighter than their motocross helmets. For bmx riding these are awesome helmets. They can still ware their goggles or sunglasses with these helmets. My son is a pretty average sized 6 year old, and the helmet fits him pretty good. Its just a touch large on him, but not by much. Our daughter is 3 and has a slightly large head for her age, and the helmet also fits her quite well, she definitely has room to grow in it. Just guessing I bet these helmets will fit them until they are about 8-9 years old. The thing I love about these helmets is that the kids actually wear them. Their other helmets are too heavy, and it was like pulling teeth to get them to wear them. I figured these were a good compromise. They might not have as much padding or structure to them as the heavier helmets, but what does more good; a heavy helmet that never gets worn or a light helmet that they like wearing. All and all I think these are great lightweight helmets for the money. ... show more

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars tiny and cheaply made
Color: Black
not really a protective helmet. more like a costume hat than and actual helmet. cheap flimsy plastic with very little padding or shock absorbing material. it's poop. don't buy it!

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great buy
Color: Black
This is a great helmet for the price. My son wanted a “racer” helmet I’m so glad we found this one. It did fit him a little big as he is only 6 years old but he loves it. The only gripe I have is the decals came of easily a few days after having it. It’s not a big deal because it’s just the brand of the helmet but that would be the only thing I see wrong with this along with fit. I wish they had more size options. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Chin section rides up..
Color: Black Chery
Nice helmet, but beware, the chin section can ride up and actually make it difficult for the wearer to see.
