I purchased this for my 9 year old as a “Santa” gift for Christmas, as he asked for an electric scooter on his wish list! I took the plunge and found this one after visiting multiple stores and found everyone sold out of half decent brands. Christmas morning: he opened and was so excited to use it - we assembled in 20 mins, maybe a little more. Very little assembly needed! He was outside zipping up and down the street continuously for half hour before it died (no, we didn’t follow directions to fully charge prior to first use!). Time passed... the scooter was his “car”, riding to friends houses for months. Still, no issues, ran great, speed maintained (quick for a scooter!) Unfortunately, he left it at the end of the driveway and a passing car somehow ran over the back of the scooter, “totaling” it, as car owners would call it! It was a sad day; he was very upset and the car never stopped that day; eventually (the neighbor who hit the scooter) stopped by to apologize and tried to give me $20 for it... I told her to keep it; definitely worth the money spent - aside from saving time - going from friends house to friends house, his smile every time he turned it on made the purchase that much better!!! Highly recommend!!! I purchased two electric scooters after (rather not say the brand) and neither battery lasted as long - matter of fact, the scooters themselves stayed in working condition for 6 - 9 months; all scooters were highly used, abused and treated poorly - the RAZOR outlasted - we miss it dearly!! We just don’t have that kind of money to put out, and the kids are a little older now (RAZOR dirt bike now!) ... show more

A great intro motorized scooter. My 7 year old loves it and the speed is perfect for someone his age. I wouldn't want him going any faster on one of these things. Most of the reviews of the 'performance' here are fairly accurate. I can't speak to the true battery life as my son only rides it in short spurts and keeps it on the charger whenever he's not on it. After a week it sopped working. It wasn't until this point that I went back and read all the reviews including a one star by 'Beer Budget' that described my exact situation. Unfortunately you can't return this item through amazon and you have to call Razor to deal with issues. I was in the middle of the nightmare situation that Beer Budget described - to the letter. While changing out the wiring assembly, I noticed the that chain had come off the sprocket. I was surprised that I didn't notice this before AND MORE SO that the tech support person never asked me to check this. I took the chain guard off, put the chain back on, tightened the chain tensioner (which was the reason the thing came off in the first place) and voila! it was back to working like a charm. Now I have a spare battery and other spare parts that Razor sent me for free but the headache of dealing with tech support (pretty sure they are in India) and having it out of commission for weeks was pretty annoying. ... show more

This product does exactly what it promises to do. It's built well and works every time. My son is 8 and absolutely loves it. Every friend of his that comes over spends the whole time on it and I've sent the Amazon product URL to all of their parents. I was skeptical that it would be this reliable or sturdy at the price and have been very impressed. The speed is decent and the charge lasts longer than we need -- we take it to restaurants that are about 1/2 mile from us and it makes it there and back plus more. The one tiny downside is the clearance to the ground, which other reviewers have mentioned. That won't be great if your child wants to do jumps (which I'm not sure would be safe anyway), and sometimes the bottom scrapes the apron on curbs. Don't hesitate for this... it's perfect for 7-9 year olds and is ridiculously fun. ... show more

    • Scooter max speed doesn’t last long
The scooter is super cute and our daughter loved it at first, BUT it does not work as advertised. Something must be wrong with the battery as it will not go full speed after maybe 1 mile or even less. We charged it after every use for +12 hours but the scooter starts to slow down significantly after a few rounds around the block. I am convinced this is not user error as we have followed the instructions thoroughly. I doubt one charge would even last 10 miles as described, we never tested it for that long cuz my daughter would get bored once it starts moving no faster than 5 miles an hour. Additionally, the closed kick stand sticks out a bit to for and has scratched the inside of my daughter’s ankle when kick starting the scooter. The back tire is made out of hard plastic which makes the ride very bumpy and loud (definitely not a smooth ride), and since the tire is so small it makes it difficult to get over even the smallest edge or onto a side walk, I have to always help her lift it up. We are returning the scooter and purchasing a different model. ... show more
